Shadow of Destiny Port Traveling To The States

By Spencer . July 31, 2009 . 8:41am

shadowspsps Earlier this month, we reported the PlayStation 2 game Shadow of Destiny was getting a PSP port in Japan. Now, it’s confirmed for North America.

The ESRB just re-rated Shadow of Destiny as a PSP game with the following spoiler filled summary for its “T” rating.

This is an adventure game in which players assume the role of Eike, a man who is “destined to die” and who must travel through time to alter his fate. Players can explore the fictional German town of Lebensbaum, solve puzzles, and interact with different characters to uncover the cause of the central character’s demise. Eike’s death is depicted in a variety of ways: he is stabbed, pushed off a roof, poisoned, and shot. In one scene, he is run over by a car; both the driver and the passenger appear to be drunk (i.e., they talk with slurred speech and make comments like, “I think he’s like a drunk or something”; “Hey wait! Aren’t you like the one who is smashed, dude?”). During the course of the game, a blood-like fluid gushes out of an injured creature and settles on the ground.

Thanks for spoiling the game and Konami’s announcement, ESRB! Shadow of Destiny is slated October 1st in Japan. A North American release can’t be too far behind since Konami already localized the game for the PlayStation 2.

    Yeah!
I’ll probably get this, since I didn’t get the PS2 or the PC versions.

I wish it was this easy to get Sony to approve ports on PSP a few years ago. Maybe we would have gotten Suikoden I&II.

This… is the best news… ever!
… well, unless Nintendo announces Trace Memory R for the US.
… or Success Corp and Ninja Studio announce an Izuna 3.
    … it’s up there though!

Man I loved shadows of destiny. When I read the title i thought maybe there would be some sort of sequel…
But a port is fine too! I’m going to buy it for my friends who didn’t play it! XD

My wishlist for the second half of this year is already $1000+. Will definitely buy Shadow of Destiny though.

Thank you Konami! Best news of the week, I loved this game when I played it on PS2 way back when. The story was fantastic (well, I thought it was fantastic back in 2001) and I really liked the little twists in the plot. Not to mention hearing charles martinet as the homunculus was quite a surprise, don’t let the Mario voice fool you he has alot more range to his voice and in this game he was really creepy at times.

Cool cool. Konami is more or less in a downward spiral, but little things like this are always appreciated.

While I’m happy this get ported, I don’t think I would be getting it again as it doesn’t seem to have any extras (already have both the US & Jpn ver..).

I totally couldn’t get into Time Hollow and stopped in the middle, I don’t know if it’s the bad English voice acting. I just picked up a Jpn copy and will try to give it another go.

I wish Sony was this easy to get ports for PSP approved a few years ago. If it was, maybe we would have gotten Suikoden I&II.

  • Hello Hello
