Importers take note Irozuki Tingle no Koi no Balloon Trip (Color Changing Tingle’s Balloon Trip of Love) is a text heavy adventure game.

A demo appeared on Japan’s Nintendo Channel and it plays like a point and click adventure game. Players guide Tingle, who is sucked into a Wizard of Oz-like world by tapping on objects. You can’t freely move Tingle in the demo, which was a little awkward. You can only approach key objects like people and the clock, as seen in the screenshot.

If you interact with a person you can select talk or search. Some conversations have multiple options, like picking “dance party” makes an old lady tell Tingle he may be able to discover princesses there.

Tingle can grab items like a red marble and a hammer, which can be used to smash a ceramic mushroom hiding precious rupees. More rupees can be found by rustling through grass, but there wasn’t too much to do in the demo.

I didn’t even get to meet the short scarecrow, lion, and tin woman that accompany Tingle on his girlfriend finding adventure.

I don’t get it – Tingle stands in place until you touch a hot spot? Kind of weird it’s not the d-pad+touch setup of the original, even if just for this demo…

The full game may be different, but you can’t move Tingle. Balloon Trip of Love feels like a tap and click aadventure.

I still can’t believe this game exists. I can’t think of a character that I’d be less interested in finding a g/f for, for a number of reasons…

I just hope they bring this (and the previous one) to the US. I guess not? Annoying.

you can import it, since the DS is region free and it came out in Europe, in English.

I know this wasn’t the answer you were hoping for but… at least it can be played in english.

Which brings up a good question: where can I order european releases? I know about play-asia for japanese games, but what about euro stuff? What’s a good place to order such games?

Sendit has it at $36 and sends overseas, but I don’t know what the postage costs will be. But I know some people in US import from there so it shouldn’t be prohibitive:

Sadly $36 are £22, a few months ago some stores dropped it to £10 (that’s when I snatched it) but they no longer have stock :(

Other way would be eBay of course, but I don’t know what the prices are there.

Thanks for helping everyone find a European copy of the first Tingle game. :)

    my preferred importer in ncsxshop.com
i bought the original tingle game (euro version) from them.
reasonable price, fast shipping, great experience.
they sell euro, japanese, and US games and all are clearly identified in separate categories. they carry other stuff, too.
