White Knight Chronicles Transforms Into EX Edition In October

An ad for White Knight Chronicles EX Edition has been circulating through Japanese blogs. This version of the Level 5 developed RPG includes patches, presumably the 2nd Wave patch which adds Georama, new equipment, and uncaps the Guild Rank.

Sony plans to sell White Knight Chronicles EX Edition at a discount for 3,800 yen ($40). Not a bad deal, but a few months ago an Osaka based game retailer had a fire sale on used copies shilling them for 600 yen ($6.30) a piece.

Of course this would happen. Will we be missing out on anything in our version?

From what I understand, and don’t hold me to this, but the reason the English language version has been delayed as long as it has is because they want to include all these extra patches in the English release.

      • So basically the same deal as Rogue Galaxy?

      • Exactly right! That and add voice chat, which the US producer told me is coming along nicely.

Denpa no Sekai makes a good point about Rogue Galaxy too. We ended up getting the “Director’s Cut” version which was re-released in Japan a few months later.

So Japan is going to get a re-release of the game with all the patches included, before we actually get the game here in the first place? How much are we going to pay for the NA version? $60?

    • Hraesvelgr

How much did you expect to pay for the game?

    • The version we’re going to get is the EX Edition, perhaps with the voice chat patch and it’ll be $60.

While it’s more expensive than the EX Edition in Japan it beats buying the original version which cost the equivalent of $90 last year.

ASH for a measly 10 yen, ouch… so the store thinks they’re a waste of space :(.. (I actually liked the game a lot and bought it before it hit bargain bin..)

    • lostinblue

      ouch, but I’d buy it.

Now people be come, about this you know japan get the games before other this where the game come from they got to make shore it sale to make money to make new copies before ship out all over the world.

Since the title will be a 2010 release I would have to assume that a trophy patch also has to be implemented since Sony said going forward all titles must support trophies, with the exception of some 2009 titles. Spencer did you hear anything about the trophy system being implemented into WKC as well?
