Just got a build of Shin Megami Tensei: Persona and it came with brand spankin’ new firmware. The disc had a mandatory update to PSP Firmware 5.55.

The last public update was PSP Firmware 5.51, which came out in June. Shin Megami Tensei: Persona comes out in September, which probably means Sony has plans to release new firmware in North America real soon.

Do you spot anything new on it?

    • There isn’t a changelog for this firmware like the other firmware. I haven’t seen anything significant though since I’ve just been playing Persona.

Full screen PSP games through TV-Out, Please!

I thought that was a hardware problem and that PSP 3000 revision made it so all games would be fullscreen already?

      (but not on PSP-2000)

        Nope. I have a PSP 3000 and my games aren’t full-screen.

          well, that sucks

I have a 2000 and yeah it does. It’s pretty bad when hackers can do it but Sony can’t.

I have a PSP-2000 too, but thought it was solved on PSP-3000.

Hackers can do it on any game? I don’t really follow the scene, but once I saw a crisis core video of a PSP doing the upscale for fullscreen for it… and it ran at… 15 frames?

I thought it was slow, at least for some games.

GI Joe (out now) already has 5.55 on it.

    • Nite

As well as Armored Core 3 Portable, Tales of VS, and the recent Neon Genesis Evangelion game in Japan.

Well, I suppose it’s time to update my CFW. I wonder if the digital release will also require the firmware update…
