Watch Hexyz Force’s Animated Intro Right Now

By Spencer . August 10, 2009 . 12:35pm

Hexyz Force, Sting’s first original RPG for PSP, won’t arrive in stores until November 12 (yeah, that’s the same day as Lunar), but why wait until then to see the intro video?

A bit of background info to explain what’s going on. Hexyz Force focuses on a world divided between light and perpetual darkness. The game features two protagonists Cecilia, a shrine maiden who is also the first character you see in the video, and Revenant, a swordsman from the dark side seen in the still frame.

Revenant isn’t exactly the antagonist. You play both sides in Hexyz Force and the order of events determines the outcome of the story.

Good art style, if nothing else…STING/ATLUS usually doesn't fail there.

But no game play in the vid :/…read up on the info at least but with STING I can guess that it's more difficult than the average bear.

Wow its just an anime and music but I got an old school JRPG vibe from it which is my most favorite genre by far, come in english and I will buy it day one.

Yup, there's definitely a Lunar, Grandia vibe going on there, with several of the girls having that distinctive Sting look.

I'd suspect this will be a given for Atlus USA next year, which is shaping up quite full — and I am not including anything ending with a XIII. DQ IX, Rurona, Valkyria Chronicles PSP, Resonance of Fate, Tales of Something, Tactics Layer perhaps?? That's a selection we haven't seen for quite a few years.

I like the chara design overall. Cleaner than Yggdra and KitN, and more similar to Riviera. Hopefully this won't remain in Japan for too long.

Looking at the official website, it seems like there might be animated sequences during the game as well?

Love the artist's designs. Although the main female lead looks a bit too much like Reiha from Summon Nights: Twin Age.

Yeah you're probably right that there's more to the battle system than three lines. It's a Sting game!

I think the complexity is going to be in the story system though. Since that seems like a key selling point. Either way we'll keep an eye on for Hexyz Force.

Seriously, bad anime sequences should be banned in games, it's a less than 2-min intro and they can't do it right. It used to be they put the most effort in a short opening sequence, opening w/ a bang. At least it's not as sloppy as the anime cutscenes in SF4, those really ruined the game's presentation, and in the famous SF4..

I'm still enjoying Yggdra Union (It takes me a while to beat handheld games for some reason!) So I'll be keeping an eye on this.
