Tenchu Meets Modern Day

By Spencer . August 17, 2009 . 10:31am

From Software said they were expanding their PSP port of Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven. I thought they were going to stop at bears. Nope! Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven Portable (aka Tenchu 3 Portable in Japan) also has a stage set in modern office building.

Rikimaru gets sucked into “another world”, which happens to be our world. In this special stage you sneak past toting security guards as you climb your way up an office building to face Mr. D, the corrupt CEO of a pharmaceutical company.

Plot aside, I like the idea of a ninja stealth game set in modern times. Spin-off anyone?

Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven Portable creeps into stores on August 27.

this is nothing new the original 4 PS2 has this mission/stage too… but yay a Spin-off would be grate….

  • I thought this was something new… this was in the original version (and I think the bear fight too unless that was Fatal Shadows).

It’s nice they keep these things intact though.

This mission was indeed a bonus level in the original game. Strangely enough, I think it was supposed to be canon, too, as it was supposed to tell you where Rikimaru went after a certain event. …unless it was all a joke.

What are the chances we’ll get this game in America?

    • QBasic

      I’m hoping for 1%.

    • If it’s your first time playing it you always have the PS2 version if it doesn’t get picked up.

EDIT: Also XBOX under the name Return from Darkness

  • Asura

Wait, is this totally different from Tenchu: Time of Assasins/Tenchu: Shinobi Taizen?

Sorry, but my Tenchu knowledge is almost non-existant.

    • Not the same game. Time of Assassins is considered a spinoff while this is a main entry.

I loved the music of this bonus mission.
