Introducing Majin: The Fallen Realm

By Spencer . August 19, 2009 . 11:04pm

Namco Bandai and Folklore developer Game Republic are partnering to make a brand new PS3 / Xbox 360 game temporarily called Majin: The Fallen Realm. The game stars an acrobatic thief and his muppet-like monster pal.

Something about this game… perhaps its the art style or the boy and his best friend beast setting, but Majin: The Fallen Realm seems inspired by Team Ico’s work.

    That trailer is simply stunning!

  • TTTT

looks great. certainly see the ICO influence. looks like Sony has a couple IPs that are influencing other titles. God of War has Darksiders and Dantes Inferno and ICO has this.

I’m interested. Folklore had a very good story, great art direction, and interesting tone and atmosphere throughout. From the trailer this appears to at least have a nice atmosphere and the colors, a strong point in Folklore, seem to be quite vivid in this as well, as shown around 1:30 and beyond.

I’d very much like to see more from their studio in the future.

  • Dasuzero

    mixed language titles :(

  • MadMirko

And here I was expecting another sequel to Majin Tensei. :(

  • It looks very similar but seems to focus the use of the beast more on fighting rather than puzzles like in the new ICO game. There is one part of this trailer that’s very similar to the ICO one, the stealth section, where a lone guard walks down and character signals his beast to stop.

Looks really nice, the games share the same concept but will use them in different ways. ICO will win because it is already established but this does look quite special.
