Square Enix unveiled four more Final Fantasy XIV jobs. In addition to swordsmen and gardeners, Final Fantasy XIV adds martial artists and tailors.

From left to right: axeman, archer, martial artist, and tailor. Yes, tailors armed with sewing tools like needles. Archers use short bows. Axemen wield axes and bhujs, a type of great axe found in Final Fantasy XI. Martial artists fight with their fists and equip claws.

Here’s a look at some of the monsters. Again, from left to right: mamet, cactaur, ogre, ahriman, and marlboro. The tailor vs. marlboro fights are scheduled for next year.

“Armed” with needles isn’t quite right. Odds are good the tailor is a crafting class; for those who haven’t been following it, FFXIV integrates crafting into their class system as a viable class – presumably one you gain skill in by using that craft.

Wow, not what I expected from XIV…. I’m a little disappointed. I just don’t like the CG models, and I really thought Square was going make more creative jobs.

I won’t lose all interest until I test the game though…

I think the jobs are a good start and very creative as far as MMO’s go (all these “Trade” skills actually being abilities). Well, at least from the LOOKS of things, we can’t really tell how interesting it is yet.

Martial Artist included. Now I can finally guarantee me actually testing this game out. I wonder what branching paths they will have available for these classes.

I’m really loving the monster designs. The new Malboro and Cactaur are great. Those are a strange set of jobs though. Gardener? Tailor? While I know I won’t be playing this because I spent too much of my time on FFXI, I’m still interested in how everything in FFXIV will flow together.

Wow. A tad ambitious, in my opinion. Tailors and gardeners are quite creative, but it’s not necessarily what I’d end up going for.

Also, I thought we were done screwing with cactuars in FFXII. I’m quite fond of their original design. :(
