Ni no Kuni Slips Into Spring 2010

Ni no Kuni Slips Into Spring 2010

Level 5′s project Studio Ghibli won’t come out this year as originally planned. Ni no Kuni has been rescheduled for spring 2010.

Bummer, but hardly surprising considering how little Ni no Kuni appeared in the news until now. New screenshots of the game show Oliver and Shizuku in a 3D battle and a rune drawing system used to collect heart pieces.

Ni no Kuni, like all of Level 5′s games except Professor Layton, has not been announced for North America at this time.

Level-5 also reconfirmed it's still coming to a (tba) console too.

  • MadMirko

This one will be huge. I mean in terms of bits. Amazing how a “tiny” DS cartridge can now hold almost a CD-ROM worth of data.

  • ShinNoKami

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE have an English release! ><

  • Dasuzero

Yeah, you should mention that it's the first 4Gb (512mb) cart.

The battle screenshot reminds me of FFIX. Well, I just thought of it first because of the opposite direction and scenery.
I'm really hoping it gets an English release. I wouldn't mind importing though (furigana to the kanji-inept rescue!)
And it hasn't been in the news, but the site has been updating nicely (was for a while), and Spring isn't too far away now.
I want this and Inazuma Eleven (and DQIX). Here's to hoping Level-5 brings over everything, especially Ni no Kuni. (Maybe the Ghibli collab will help bring it over, as long as it doesn't get bad voicing or at least keeps a language option.)

It's either Wii or PS3 (since they don't seem to like Microsoft considering what happened to True Fantasy)

I would say Wii because then they can connect with the DS version.

Wii makes definitely makes the most sense with the spellcasting interface, the Wiimote is literally a “wand” and IR can perfectly replicate the symbol drawing. I also can't see L5 self-funding/publishing PS3 games anytime soon, but that's another whole discussion.

Yeah, at this point we're getting really far behind in releases. I wish Level-5 would just set up a US office and start self-localizing/publishing here too. Work out a distribution deal with EA or Square Enix or Nintendo/SCEA or whoever and get to it…

  • puchinri

    Seriously. (And it's seriously sad.)
They really should. And since they already have one title published with Nintendo, they could set up a distribution deal with them, and they have quite a fanbase here so it wouldn't hurt them to start self-publishing/localizing. Maybe Layton sales, and Ni no Kuni if it comes, will help with that.

  • Joanna_T

they can make those?! I always thought 2GB was the biggest, but I guess not.

  • Joanna_T

very nice, but this better be coming over here or I'll be heart broken. Seems like Nintendo would be the best bet as to who will publish, but Nintendo takes the longest at localization/publication. T___T
