Final Fantasy XIII’s Lighting Goes Horseback Riding

Final Fantasy XIIIs Lighting Goes Horseback Riding

Every summon in Final Fantasy XIII serves as a powerful guardian and a steed. The Shiva sisters morph into a motorcycle Snow can drive. Odin lends Lightning his horse.

And apparently his signature move.

Take a look at the triangle move, which consumes all of Lightning’s driving points. It says Zantetsuken Lv.1 , which is Odin’s typical kill everything on the screen except the boss monsters signature attack.

Famitsu has more Final Fantasy XIII screens of Lightning’s summon and the “sexy” PSI-COM commander Jihl Nabaat.

I just realized what’s bothering me about recent Final Fantasy XIII screenshots – the game is becoming more and more difficult to distinguish from a tri-ace title.

Rather, they place to much focos on making the battles nice looking as if they want to bring us a FFVII:AC movie as a game instead of just watching…

Which makes it to bizzare in my opinion. I don´t want flashy battles, I want a nice good storyline with a battlesystem that is fun to play. From the demo the battles weren´t that fun to play.

But as I´ve said before, I´ll buy this and Versus, after that I´ll decide if I want to continue getting the FF series or not.

I’m not even going to make a statement like that. 95% Chance I’ll pick up FFXV when it arrives anyway. Thats the kind of shallow, brand name influenced gamer I am….

Same here, day 1 import for XIII. Then S-E would fool around w/ Online 2 for a few years, I hope it wouldn’t take another decade for us to get XV. Other than the brand name, I really haven’t been disappointed w/ FF other than 12. This looks like a comeback.

FFXIII Versus seems to have some new elements and FFXIII looks to be the same as usual.

With this if they both turn out to be the same thing then I have no reason to continue to buy them. I´ve played almost all FF games, and while the experience has been nice and all, with FFX, FFX-2, FFXII I am dissapointed so if FFXIII doesn´t make a turn for the better then I don´t have a reason to continue buying the games.

I´ve grown tired of them as to say. If FFXV then comes and makes me want to play it like FFXIII Versus did then I´ll break what I said about not getting any more FF games since the game experience is what matters to me.

Tri-ace games have better combat systems than squeenix games anyway >_>”
(assuming you prefer a not being bored to tears by a battle)

  • Eddie

I just know this game is gonna be excellent. I don’t have a problem with anything they have done with it so far. I played the demo and the battle system was ok but they did make many changes with it so I am fine with that to.

Yes I’ll probably be picking this up as well as Resonance of Fate (Tri-Ace)

I just hope this is a change for the better, for this decade’s FF games haven’t been at all appealling to me. I still haven’t even finished FF X and FF XII puts me to sleep. And dont get me started on the XI…

      • Aoshi00

I considered Lost Odyssey FF XI, really. I’m definitely picking up Resonance of Fate too, the only thing I’m worried about is its barren mechanical environment (if one would get bored looking at it for dozens of hrs).

        • Pesmerga00

I guess I’m not the only one who sees Lost Odyssey as FF XI. Pretty close to a FF game if you ask me. All it needed was a summon system. Actually I’m surprised it didn’t have one.

Ditto on Resonance of Fate. I’m kinda worried that it will be a single city game though. I like exploring towns in different environments. Hopefully if this is the case, they can make it seem as alive as Radiata Strories. Don’t get me wrong Radiata had a LOT of problems, but it had a nice city system(or perhaps its my inner stalker @_@).

          • Aoshi00

Problem was S-E took too much liberty w/ the brand by making XI online and XII pseudo online. LO had everything that makes an FF (had Gooch and Uematsu after all), but people condemn old school turn based like the plague now, it was pretty challenging for me before the first DLC rolled out.

It really seems like everything would happen w/in the tower in Resonance of Fate. I’ve seen videos of the town and the characters’ animation looks quite beautiful, I just hope the environment wouldn’t get too monotonous.

Omg! So I’m not the only one FFXII put to sleep. Thank you, I thought it was just me.

  • Advent_Andaryu

The Final Fantasy series has always blown me away. This one is no different, Sleiphnir looks awesome! I can’t wait for the release… Although, I’m more excited for Versus than XIII.

Ahh… One FF that I did not like… XII… A few characters were cool IMO but that is it.

    • Aoshi00

Same here, loved 1-10, 11 Online didn’t count, and 12 was really the only one I didn’t like, but this looks very promising w/ every bit of new info that surfaces. I have confidence this would be a main number FF that I will fall in love w/ since X, been almost a decade.

  • Aoshi00

BTW, for those who are hoping for dual audio on the PS3, I don’t think that would be the case. It seems like there would be different mouth movements for the Jpn and US version respectively, like MGS4, instead of like Lost Odyssey or Ninja Gaiden 2 where lip sync was done to English and dubbed in Jpn later. I’m glad they didn’t make just one version, because it’s hard to overlook lip movement not matching nowadays with graphics so detailed.

D’aww that sucks…Not that i was counting on square to give us dual audio anyways…
