The Tale Of Three Record of Agarest War Covers

Some of you have may have seen the umm… realistic adaptation of Record of Agarest War that Ghostlight was considering for Europe. After internet outcry Ghostlight went with the original box art. (Thanks for the tip Henricus!)

Well, sort of. You only get the original Japanese box art if you purchase the limited edition, a suggestion given by a GameFAQs user. Otherwise you get new art which features the game’s many brides.

Niche publishers like Ghostlight have their ears to the ground these days. The suggestion to use the original cover art for the limited edition was unsolicited and Ghostlight listened. The way Ghostlight responded to their core users reminds me of something similar….

Take note: squeaky wheels and vocal fans get what they want, eventually.

  • *Sometimes*. This game is still set for PSN only for the U.S., which many have stated on the GF and official boards that they opted to import this release version. So, they kind of do get what they want in the end… never mind, then!

Regardless of cover, that yellow 12 is pretty distracting, though.

I’m glad they did something about that boxart and yeah, those new rating symbols suck.

  • ElTopo

If I *were* to buy this game, I would definitely import the physical copy from Europe. Forget DLC only releases.

  • Bafish

I agree. I’m buying a physical copy. NO DLC.

I’m happy that the tip I sent was published ^^ When Ghostlight showed the two new boxarts I was truly happy: it’s not common at all to see a publisher react so quickly to the fans’ demands, even more so if a suggestion like that made by yaksini for the regular cover is accepted in a matter of days.

I hope all the Agarest fans out there support Ghostlight’s effort, I surely feel like doing that when I see someone truly interested in the consumers’ wishes.

  • Hraesvelgr

Wow, the boxart they originally planned to use is freakin’ creepy.

  • Nabe

I’d hate to be the guy that made the CG cover. The internet hates his work!
