Muramasa At The Hot Springs

By Spencer . September 2, 2009 . 11:40am

Ignition has been releasing trailers of Muramasa: The Demon Blade showcasing the game’s locales, boss fights, and even a whole video dedicated to Momohime. Here’s something they haven’t shown yet, a boar and Momohime in the hot springs.

Hot springs act like inns. Take a dip to restore your life and sword energy. Occasionally, you run into the other protagonist Kisuke or Momohime, depending on who you play as, at the springs too.

Muramasa: The Demon Blade starts shipping in North America tomorrow.

I really want this game but with them talking about HD versions of this and Arc Rise Fantasia I find very little reason to buy this on Wii, especially since I would be playing this game with the Gamecube controller as I don’t like motion controls or the Wii-mote very much for that matter (my Wii game collection stands at 5, and it would have only been 3 if Klonoa did not have japanese/klonoa-ish voice track option and if House of the Dead 2&3 was not $20. I have had a Wii since launch and before these last two games my collection stood at 3 games since Smash bros in 2008.
*edit* I noticed my math was a bit wrong so I edited my comment.

there isnt any hd version planed the translation company said they were done with the game and they are where this rumor originated

      • thebanditking

Sorry but like I said to Spencer, just because it not “planned” doesnt mean its not happening. If I had a dollar for everytime someone told me that this generation…….

    • Marvelous said they’re interested in making HD ports in one of their financial statements. No specific games were mentioned. They could port Muramasa to HD. They could port Fish Eyes Wild to HD. At this point everything is game, but nothing as been announced.

      • thebanditking

Yeah I know, but here is why I hesitate. This generation has been really backward and everytime I buy a game that “could” get ported later I always am left holding the bag. I blame MS and its stupid 6 to 12 month exclusivity bs for most of the “re-buys” I have had to do (Eternal Sonata, Ninja Gaiden 2, Bioshock, Tales of Vesperia) but now I wait it out, that way if it gets ported I pick that up and spend 60 instead of 120, or if it does not get ported I pick it up on the cheap months later. The only downfall is thats not really good for smaller companies like Ignition or Marvelous as it screws up the sales of a title, and does little to cement that I want all consoles to go back to the way it was lat gen, where the worst we had to deal with was licenced movie games. Which compaired to what is on the shelf for Wii at my local store, makes those movie games look like Shadow of the Colossus.

I’m in the same boat as you. Having heard the possibility that this might be ported to HD console later and that the game was built in HD originally, I’ve decided to wait at this point (even though I would really like to see this in motion).

Not a fan of the remote either, doesn’t work for most games, and the Wii is the console gets the least use among the three. Yet I just looked into my drawer and counted 34 games for it.. sigh, I’ve always told myself I needed to be more selective w/ my gaming purchase.. if I’m careful like you, that number should come down to less than 10.

34 games huh? Wow I could not find 10 Wii games I would want to play even if someone paid me to. I do try and be as selective as possible(with all my consoles)as my end goal is to have a collection for each that has no filler or impulse buys, that way I have only the games I really like and my collection stays manageable. I have been playing since I was 5 and have had everything (save a few) since the Master System, and I got tired of always having 40+ games at the end of a lifecycle that in reality I only really liked about 15 of. My Wii collection consists of, Klonoa, Mario Galaxy, RE:Umbrella Chronicles, Smash Bros., House of the Dead 2&3 (only because it was $20 and I dont keep my Dreamcast hooked up)

  • TOMORROW?? Wow I totally forgot about this game coming out so soon. Forgot to preorder. Will retail versions also feature the wallscroll?

    • doubleO7

Wait, what? Doesn’t it come out on the 8th? Thats what Gamestop and Amazon say anyway…

    • Gamestop is shipping it tomorrow and people will be able to buy Muramasa at Nintendo’s party this Sunday too. I suppose the street date is September 8, but English copies exist. I’m looking at one on my desk now…

  • It ships tomorrow, but the official street date is 9/8, isn’t it?
On Justin.TV, Ignition said a few interesting things – one being that Amazon is going to have it’s own pre-order bonus, but nothing specific was mentioned.
I think they’re having another play through tonight at 5pm (PST) with so check it out to see any announcements.

  • Aoshi00

Very sweet.. yet I can’t buy it yet to avoid potential double dipping :(…

Does anyone know if Jpn text is selectable in the US version, like Sonic and the Secret Rings?

    • I popped in the US version and didn’t see an option for that, sorry :(

      • Aoshi00

I see, thanks for checking Spence! I was just curious since it would be nice to have the Jpn text to read along like in the video, as some US games have that option.

As beautiful as this is, I’m a wait until I find this title used/discounted.
I actually cancelled my pre-order a week ago.
I hated Odin Sphere. I wanted to like it, but I didn’t.
Quit when it started getting hard at the end of the rabbit’s chapter.
Was really looking forward to the art scroll, but couldn’t rationalize the cost if that was the only reason.
I can’t buy EVERY game that looks nice, switched my reservation from this to Atelier Annie….
I dunno, I might be having regrets now. Gah!
    It is quite beautiful.

    • Aoshi00

I hear you, most Wii games like Mad World, HotD Overkill, No More Heroes, etc took no time dropping to $20 several months later. While they were all good games, if I knew price dropped so fast, I wouldn’t mind waiting a couple of months. I might sound cheap, but I actually blow a ton of dough on games alrdy, I need to be smart and selective..

Like you, I think I would forgo the pre-order goodie if it means saving $30 (probably good deal around Thanksgiving). I shared the same view w/ you on Odin Sphere, so I’m having a little reservation. There’s also the matter of this getting an HD port…
