The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks Dated

By Spencer . September 15, 2009 . 3:06pm

imageNintendo set a firm date for The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. Link’s railroad conducting adventure arrives in stores on December 7.

Other holiday DS titles from Nintendo include Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky, landing on October 12, and Style Savvy, a localized version of Wagamama Fashion Girl’s Mode, arriving fashionably late in North America. Style Savvy came out in Japan last November. The game ships here on November 2.

It also seems like Nintendo of America is marketing Style Savvy as a sophisticated game instead of a cute one. Check out the box art for the US version and the Japanese release below.

I really like the Zelda box art, it isn’t too busy and I like the mellow colors. Still need to finish Phantom Hourglass, but I did enjoy it (yes even the Ocean King’s dungeon ;])

I think its because Nintendo of America is trying to get not only younger girls on board, but also teens and early adults. And cute is a big turn off for these two age groups here (key word, here, not the case in Japan. Of course, not everyone and not with everything, but when you are trying to market to an age group that mostly thinks of video games as toys, making the box cute looking isn’t going to help). Well at least that is my take on it.

ps: Spencer has there been any word on Glory of Hercules? I know it has a really rough date of sometime in 2010, but I was wondering if anyone knows maybe what quarter?

    • Neither Glory of Heracles nor Golden Sun were on the press releases Nintendo sent out earlier in the week. I guess we’ll have to wait for more info on both. I believe Pokémon is scheduled for Spring so we’ll probably see both those sometime after.

I’m thinking GoH and Golden Sun will probably be the last big DS-only releases from them, after which they’ll probably want to start pushing DSi.

T___T I hope not, I’m still holding out for ASH and Soma Bringer. I know the chances are slim to none, but I really wish these two titles could be localized.

I also have a very small hope that eventually Nintendo will publish other level 5 games.(If not, I wish someone else would, I want me some inazuma, ni no kumi, and fantasy life.)

        • ASH? Soma Bringer? Bwahahahahahaha!

  • I’m looking forward to Spirit Tracks, I really liked the puzzles in Phantom Hourglass, although I hope the train conducting is less of hassle then sailing.

While the US cover of Style Savvy looks more mature, I’m glad the art’s pretty nice compared to some cover changes…

That is so true. Like the god awful Hotel Dusk box. The Japanese box was so much better.
I think I like the Japanese box more for Wagamama (I think it’s because of the baby pink. I love it.) But yes, the US box isn’t bad either.
