Monster Finder Uses DSi Camera To Make Monsters

Monster Finder Uses DSi Camera To Make MonstersAlphaunit just unveiled Monster Finder, the first DSi exclusive game for Japan. Their title has a Pokemon vibe and a camera gimmick.

Players use the DSi’s camera to take a picture of anything and Monster Finder magically makes a monster from the image. Naturally, these monsters are used to fight. What else do monsters do? Monster Finder has three on three battles where monsters line up in a row. Range is a strategic factor to consider in battle.

There are over 150 monsters to umm… find. Let’s take a look at them!

Curiously, the angel is named Pit, just like the famous star of Kid Icarus. Not sure if Alphaunit or another publisher will change that if Monster Finder goes international. So far, Monster Finder is only for Japan where it’s scheduled to come out in winter 2009.

Reminds me of Monster Rancher where you had to insert different discs into the ps2 to make new monsters – only this time, its with a camera

Well, is there any trademark on the name “pit”, for a cupid or any other character for that matter?

Either way, cool concept. But yeah totally based on Monster Rancher.

Poor Tecmo, I thought Monster Rancher would use this feature first..
It's interesting though, but I doubt I'll ever own a DSi to enjoy it.

I don't think so. I just thought it was amusing that they picked Pit as the name of the angel, sort of like a tribute.
