White Knight Chronicles Sequel To Be Shown At TGS

By Spencer . September 23, 2009 . 12:44am

image Sony isn’t waiting to see how White Knight Chronicles does in the West before investing in a sequel. White Knight Chronicles 2 is already in development.

Famitsu’s exhibitor preview lists Shirokishi Monogatari: Hikari to Yami no Kakusei which translates into White Knight Chronicles: Awakening of Light and Darkness.

Later this year, Sony will release White Knight Chronicles EX Edition in Japan, a discounted re-release with all of the online patches to date. This is the version of White Knight Chronicles were getting with English text and probably voice chat in early 2010.

I’d rather have a Dark Cloud 3 than another White Knight Chronicles, Inazuma Eleven, or Professor Layton. Guess that’s never going to happen, though.

    • Raccoon

Yeah, I’d love to see a sequel to Rogue Galaxy :-/
I’m not at all interested in WKC >_>

Voice chat….. yes, that would be awesome.

I really was quite disappointed by the first White Knight Chronicles… but after playing some of other Level 5′s offerings (I’m looking at you, Inazuma Eleven), I’m really quite hopeful that the sequel will fix the mistakes of its predecessor. I’l probably pick it up in any event though ~_~

Yeah, WKC is pretty “meh”… but then, I personally don’t like too many of their games anyway. I like what they’ve done with the Dragon Quest games they’ve developed, but even that isn’t 100% Level-5. Don’t really understand what people see in their games.

To each his own, I have liked all of Level-5′s RPGs and I doubt WKC will be any different. Thats the thing with RPGs they dont always appeal to everyone, for example I have never played a western RPG I did not hate, with special mention to Bioware’s RPGs as I just have no clue how people even play them, I always try them but end up getting bored. Still I would have liked to see some another new Level-5 title rather then a sequel so soon but WKC is a newer IP then say Dark Cloud.

There have been very few jRPGs I have barely enjoyed enough to finish. My list so far includes Tales of Eternia, Hanjuku Hero vs. 3D (Though, I looooove Hanjuku Hero 4) and White Knight Chronicles (and I know I must be forgetting several). I guess my expectations were set a bit too high. If I wasn’t expecting some new epic RPG I probably wouldn’t have been so let down. Of course, it’s just my own opinion and I’m sure there are plenty who (will) love the first WKC (especially if they spruce up some bits for the american release). It’s not a BAD game by any means, it just never sat well with me I guess…

Do you like FFXI? If you do, you’ll probably like WKC.

If you don’t, you’ll think it’s boring and bad.

I subscribe to the latter school of thought.

          • Aoshi00

Yeah, I thought this was mainly fun only for online as well. I didn’t like FFXI and so I don’t care much for WKC either, just doesn’t seem like your typical one player story driven RPG.

Hmm, I don’t like MMO’s but I did like the .Hack PS2 games and I don’t really mind FF12′s battle system so if the game plays like that I will probably like it.

I really wonder sometimes how Level-5′s internal team is divided up among their various projects.

Clones. It’s the only conceivable answer.
