See The Final Fantasy XIII Slim PS3 (Update: Larger Pictures!)

Sony announced a Final Fantasy XIII PlayStation 3 bundle with Lightning plastered on it.

The PlayStation 3 Final Fantasy XIII Lightning Edition pack comes with:

- Ceramic White PS3 with Lighting on the top
- 250GB hard drive
- Final Fantasy XIII
- Dualshock 3 controller
- Power cord, AV cord, and a USB cable

So far, the 41,600 yen ($456) Lightning Edition PS3 bundle is the only way to get a 250 GB PlayStation 3 in Japan. It hits stores the same day as Final Fantasy XIII, December 17.

It would look alot better if it were just plain white. The pink and the Lightning imprint looks tacky.

I want the ceramic white, but not too crazy about the “pink” Lightning.. let’s see how much online stores here sell it for… So both this and Modern Warfare 2 360 bundle go up to 250gb huh… You know what would’ve been cool, some imprints from Amano..

    And that was even before I could view the bigger pics. I held off pre-ordering the game waiting to see what the LE bundle would look like, at least now I can be sure I just want the game itself, no more temptation, lol. 360 faceplates are definitely more fun (the Jpn ones) in customizing looks.
    
    Come to think of it, we haven’t even seen Nomura’s actual drawings for these characters (like FF 7,8, &10) have we? So far we’ve only seen them in CG, I wonder if they would have anime portraits for their mugshots in the menu.

        lol.. well, I’d be buying FF XIII twice again just like w/ all past FFs, since dual audio track is out of the question. Can’t wait 3 months to play this anyway. I’m glad this isn’t coming out on 360 in Jpn, otherwise I would need to hunt down its LE faceplate (actually they’re not that hard to come by thanks to a couple of ebay sellers). Don’t think I’d be getting the English version on 360 if it’s a simultaneous US release.
        
        So far PlayAsia has the best deal for $89.90, I could use my $5 coupon and it’s under $90 after shipping..

White PS3 is nice, but with the pink print it looks girly.

Yeah not sure what they were shooting for with this, don’t get me wrong its still classy much like many of Sony’s LE consoles but that pink is not my taste. Personally if they wanted to make it more unisex they would have choosen a light blue or light green (also blends with the logo). Still Lightning is a girl so the pink suits her, and while pink carries a “girly” or “sissy” image in the west I don’t believe Japanese men feel the same about the color. Not to mention, who the heck care what Westerners think the chances of this coming to NA/EU are about as likely as it raining elephants today.

sorta off topic but i think the current consoles should just maybe redesign and hold back on the next gen console thing a bit longer. I really feel there is no need for graphics to get better than it is currently but not onyl that, seems like this gen took a lot longer to come out with really good games vs. ps2/cube etc. era.

I am so excited about 2010 releases and feel the devs finally got a hang of using the console’s power and it’s limitations.

if you think about it i believe the consoles are entering its final phases in life cycle (considering its similar to previous gens) the beg at least. but i think they should hold out maybe 3-4 years even before launching a new one.

ps2 was a great example i think of how long a system can last..

back to topic…i like the design and color but i felt the slim design was a bit…errr not exciting lol. should made it more sexier. but i really do like the color! :)

perhaps i shoulda waited to get ps3 even longer? i couldn’t resist after MGS4 bundle came out tho lol

  Same here, I just like the white. I always think if I’m getting a system twice, I might as well get it in a different color so they could be distinguishable, but it’s not paramount here since the slim alrdy looks different. But a pink Lightning is a no go, I can’t imagine staring at that for years :(…

    I’m still doubting whether to get a slim or not. If I do I don’t think it will be this one though. Maybe if there is a LE for Versus I might get that, then again maybe not.

      This one is just tacky, it’s not even the pink… well, a US one is $299 and you might be able to get a deal around Thanksgiving. Importing a LE from Jpn would cost you.
      
      Thing is my PS3 is kind of noisy after it’s turned off for a while, I hope it doesn’t crap out on me (and my 360 is so quiet I can’t even tell it’s running even I’ve played it for the whole day).. I gave away my PS2 to my sis years ago. So if an appealing LE does come by, I would get a quieter Slim to play PS3 games, and use the Fat one as an oversized upscaling PS2, lol :)

        Aoshi where did you get that 360? Black Market, because there is no such thing as a quiet 360. Mine has this constant low “errrrrrrr” noise when running and when you put a disc in forget it, thing sounds like a blender XD. Still I changed out my 60GB PS3 for a slim when it came out and am quite happy with it. Less heat and its very quiet, if your PS3 sounds noisy it could be the fans have too much dust on them, which you can fix with a vacuum. Simply turn off and disconect the system and put use the vacuum on the back and bottom right side vents let it run for about 10 seconds on each spot and that should help with noise.

        Thanks for the useful tip man! I vacuumed out quite a bit of dust from the vents, I think it helps a great deal as it sounds much quieter now. Can’t believe I overlook something like this, I remember the system got louder around the same time I upgraded to a 320Gb hdd, so I figured a bigger hdd just causes more noise and there’s nothing I could do about it.
        
        As for my 360, it does have a constant low humming noise when it’s on, but I’ve been doing HDD install for all my games ever since the NXE rolled out last Nov. I know the Jasper system is pretty safe now, but I just take all the precaution to prevent RROD, and w/ install the system really doesn’t get hot at all even playing it for the whole day, that’s gotta be good to prolong the life of a system. Also games should load faster and run smoother, otherwise it does sound like a “vacuum cleaner” when the disc is spinning inside which drove me nuts when playing long RPGs for hours :(..

  Versus limited-edition would rock. I’d love for it to be in that dark blue colour they have for the DS Lite, only embossed and with a slightly more metallic look.
