Cave “Testing” Region Free Releases With Mushihime-sama Futari Ver. 1.5

By Spencer . September 28, 2009 . 11:50am

imageXbox 360 games have the option of being region coded. Many US games aren’t region locked, but Japanese releases, including Cave’s previous titles like Deathsmiles, are.

Mushihime-sama Futari Ver. 1.5 won’t be region locked, which means you can import it. "So for this time, as a test, we’re going to make the game region free so that overseas users can play it,” Makato Asada told Kotaku.

Cave is gauging the amount of overseas fans with this test. The result (not sure how this is going to be quantified) will determine if Espgaluda II gets localized or not.

Play-Asia is selling Mushihime-sama Futari Ver. 1.5 for $68.90. You might want to get stock up on Japanese Xbox Live points with that too just in case Cave plans any DLC packs.

Their own XBLA leaderboards somehow? That or they’ll ask Playasia to kindly share their number of sales.

that’s what i was just wondering. i want my 70 bucks to count for something, but i don’t know how i can be sure that they know what i’ve bought and where i am. this is kind of the reverse problem most people are dealing with.

  • Wow. Now no one has an excuse not to pick this up. Why has the LE STILL not shown up for Pre-order on Play-asia? I’ve been checking near daily, any rumors?

Also, doesn’t Japan still plaster that “For Sale in Japan Only” all over their games/cases, or did that end last Gen? I mean, if companies actuall have THIS much control over region-coding…why have they always chosen to code it in the first place?! (when not talking about large companies that have US/EU branches, of course)

Looks like the LE is not up for preorders yet on P-A. Weird.

No matter though, I immediately preordered the regular version as soon as I read of this. Don’t really care about LEs anyway, and at least I’ll be spending a little less, what with all the big games coming out on the next months.

Same as you, I’ve been waiting for the LE to go up on PA, since it’s going to be rare later (I’m thinking PA would have a better deal than NCSX for LE). But I might just go w/ the regular to save money since I’m not losing anything other than a nicer box an such. Wow, a Jpn 360 game being region free, this is like a miracle, crazy.

As for MS points, who knew the Idolmaster cards actually come to be useful after all this time, yay!

BTW: sry for the other post under FF13, didn’t read this news here first.

  • Heard about this a few days ago.

Now to get KONAMI on-board with this thought process of region-free on the 360, yea?

  • nyobzoo04

this game is like 3hrs long. No way would I pay $70 for that

    • Well, you can finish it in less then half an hour using unlimited continues.
But that’s not the point of the game – at least for me. People play it for the sake of perfection, or getting close of achieving a 1cc run. In this case you can add a few more hours spent trying to improve on the game :)

if you don’t understand shooters, just kindly move along please.

Hm, too bad, this game release the day after I leave Japan… I do like the idea of this, don’t think I’ll be able to afford it, though. More games should be region free and/or released worldwide.
