Last Ranker In Trailer Form

You’ve heard about Last Ranker, Imageepoch’s PSP tournament fighting RPG. Now watch the Tokyo Game Show trailer.

 

Capcom is coining it a “aim to be the strongest RPG”. In the game you play Zig, a drifter in a world of fighters. Similar to a fighting game or perhaps a shonen manga with a tournament your goal is to be the “king of fighters”.

 

 

Last Ranker is scheduled to come out in Japan next year. Plans for a North American release have not been announced, but Capcom trademarked the title in the US and Europe last week.

    I’m getting nostalgic for BoF just by looking at the character designs. Even if I don’t particularly like what they’re doing with the game, “tournament,” I’ll try it out anyway because of the designs.

      Haha first thing I noticed too, the artwork is definitely Tatsuya Yoshikawa, same artist as BOFIV/DQ.

        I think Yoshikawa did some art for Devil May Cry as well, or… someone mimicked the style completely in the art book I have.

      Still I appreciate new ideas. I dont like it that much when companies only fall back on their established franchises too much.

    Few things.

    First: it’d be cool if you can choose a character to play as. Odds are slim, but in a “tournament” style RPG, there are going to be tons of potential characters people would like to play as. It’d make sense to be able to take your pick and grow that person into the champ. Or whatever.

    Second: the girl has gigantic hands. Either that or her sleeves are definitely not complimenting her.

      I mention before I like the artist, but I agree with you, there’s nothing necessarily jumping out at me as interesting sadly. Just a bland concept I figure, might be executed alright as a game though, I guess.

        Exactly my opinion as well. I like the artist, but I don’t think I like the execution.

    Whoa, that song is…seriously dramatic. I think it’s growing on me, though.

    …I had expected the main character to be mute and am a little disappointed that he’s not.

    Really needs more gameplay footage.
