Bayonetta Demo Bursts Out Next WeekItching to try Bayonetta? Get your Japan region accounts ready! Sega will release a demo on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network on October 8.

PlatinumGames packed a tutorial, The Falling Clock Tower (prologue stage) and The Angel’s Metropolis (Chapter 1) into a 770MB Xbox Live download. PlayStation 3 owners only has the Tutorial and The Angel’s Metropolis level. The PSN demo is a bit heftier too, weighing in at 1,196MB.

Sega’s announcement also came with screenshots — just in case you want to compare how the game looks before you have a chance to play both versions. The Xbox 360 version is on top and the PlayStation 3 version is on the bottom.

Bayonetta comes out in Japan on October 29 and is slated for January in North America.

I’m not a pixel-counter, but those look the same to me. Glad people are getting the hang of multi-plats with the PS3 (at least, when nothing’s in motion). Though… I am a bit miffed at the size difference in the downloads.

Is that due to compression? Like, they aren’t compressing the PSN demo to [insert questionable advantage here]? True Dolby HD Surround Sound or something? Resolution? I’m honestly curious – does anyone have an idea?

It appears that Sega basically sent out the same screenshots, just with different file-names. They aren’t likely screens from each system. I’m sure the actual pixel counters and “ZOMG ITS MISING A MINAR GRAFIKAL EFECT THAT I TOTEALLY SEE WHEN FIEGHTING FIFTIE ENEMES!” will chime in once the demo has hit.

As far as the size difference, the only thing I can answer for sure is that resolution has nothing to do with it. _Texture_ resolution, maybe, but the displayed resolution of a game has nothing to do with its filesize.

Cool; thank you for the informative response =D

I feel slightly more confident in my mad technical skillz.

The smaller size for 360 demo goes for other games too, I’ve always wondered why because they look just as crisp. And the PS3 demo needs to go thru a tedious install.. so I always just d/l whatever demo on 360 if they’re on both systems (not to mention faster d/l speed).

I can’t wait to play this w/ just the right thumb, lol. The music from the trailer sound good too, I can’t wait. I prefer the backside game cover in the Jpn version…

Not really excited about Bayonetta, plus it’s not really looking as good as Dante´s inferno or God of War 3, I have better choices for january.

BTW: Both versions looks nearly identical but I think that the 360 version is going to have better frame rate

I seem to remember reading some online impressions that the Falling Clock Tower looked particularly bad on the PS3 version that was demoed at some game show recently… guess that’s why they’re leaving it out of this PS3 demo.

Sweet. Guess I’ll be getting both, so I can compare the two versions (for what it matters – the full game will probably be a lot different, because these demos usually come from old builds).

For my first time, just for the fun of it, I’m going to play both demo’s and swap the HDMI cord between the systems on the same video settings and see if I can tell a NOTICABLE difference-which I’m banking a big fat no. I hate those side-by-side analyses.

My only other experiences with the same games was Silent Hill: Homecoming. I rented PS3′s on Gamefly and bought the 360. On the 360 it was a lot darker as far as the screen went. I beat the game and then finally received the PS3 version. I could move the bar in the menu all the way to the left and the darkest black bar still wouldn’t disappear (become “invisible”) on my PS3. I really couldn’t explain that. Did anyone else see this same issue?

I’m definitely excited. There are tons of great games coming out in the next 4 months!

    Oh hell yes.
