Final Fantasy (The First One) On Virtual Console

imageIn Japan, Square Enix has steadily re-released Final Fantasy games on Virtual Console. Now you can get a dose of nostalgia by replaying Final Fantasy.

This is the “true” version of Final Fantasy without the MP system introduced in Final Fantasy Origins and auto-targeting. Your characters will hit thin air instead of aiming for the next living enemy. Brilliant. The Virtual Console download is 500 Wii Points ($5).

Word Searcher, a package of a 100 themed word search puzzles for WiiWare, and Thorium Wars, a 3D plane game for DSiWare are also out this week.

Father of all FF’s,nice,I played the Origins version but I bet this one will be harder since it is the original.

  • Does that mean lots of the magic swords will still not have special abilities because they didn’t work then? I blamed myself when I was young. Now I know better ;P

the only problem with this one is that if you attacked an enemy who was defeated on the turn before your attack, you attacked thin air. it required a little more strategy, math, and involvement because of this. that could be good or bad. i love these oldies and their ilk though. i’m a fan of ff1, 6, and 9.

    • It was a bit of an annoyance but I definitely enjoyed the minor “tactics” this forced on me mentally. You learn what characters kill what in how many hits and who to pair up against what to take it down while the Fighter or Monk (Black Belt :p) take out things single (and bare!)handedly! I love the Monk so much. The spell that multiplied hits on him at high levels could drop Chaos in one or two attacks. >_<
