This contest has made me start reading the Manga again. Left off about a year ago, boy do I have a lot of catching up to do.

The manga is much better in large chunks. When you read it week to week, you sometimes feel trolled.

      • Aoshi00

Well, truth is all manga are better read in consecutive tankoubons, instead of 15-20 pg cliffhanger after cliffhanger, it comes down to if one’s a big enough fan for a series. The Pain arc is quite good I guess. I kind of wish Naruto would wrap up soon since I kind of want to see what Kishimoto would draw next after this hit.

Come to think of it, it’s quite unbelievable I’ve actually followed Naruto weekly for 10 years now since its debut in Shounen Jump when I was in college. I never would’ve thought this manga would carry on for as long as it has now, pretty much the second coming of Dragonball. Even for Dragonball, I didn’t start reading it weekly till the end of Freeza/Android arc..

Kishimoto should go seinen/otona after he’s done w/ the shounen Naruto..

If there’s too much catching up to do, just watch the anime, it’s back on track now and I hope they don’t do fillers anymore… there will be an epic fight between Jiraiya and Pain, can’t wait to see it in motion.

Kishimoto hinted at wanting to do that Seinen Mafia manga “Mario” he had been working on when Naruto is over.

          • Aoshi00

I hope that would be the case, since he was influenced by Otomo’s Akira in his art style even before he started Naruto (and there were some rough sketches of gangster he did before). I think shounen is limiting his potential.

I love it when artists choose a drastically different setting when they go on their new manga, like Inoue was kind of a one trick pony when he did Slam Dunk/Buzzer Beater/Real (all basketball though one is in space and the other people in wheelchair) until Vagabond. Or Watsuki from Meiji Japan to Western (kind of a horrible one..) to modern school life, and now Europe, the different clothing that he gets to draw..

        • Pesmerga00

You’re completely right. I just finished up a huge chunk (pain arc) and I have to say I enjoyed it quite a bit more than when I followed it weekly.

I kind of wish it would end as well. On a good note instead of dragging on into eternity. Though, I can’t see them giving up this cash cow anytime soon.

          • Aoshi00

He said this is the epilogue and coming to an end soon. I could see the Time-skip/Shippuuden arc being the result of Shueisha and Takara/Tomy on his back even, like Toriyama was forced to continue after Freeza. I just wish the emo Sasuke (yes I said emo..) would just go sleep in a corner alrdy.. I thought Kishimoto kind of copped out though w/ Konoha after the Pain fight if you know what I mean, I swear I thought he was pulling a Zeta Gundam.

Best Naruto character there is,Kakashi Hatake.

  • Cool, but I the only know the title character and the pink haired one, but if it was a KoF or [email protected] contest…
