Metal Slug XX And Slug Gigant Storming Overseas

SNK wouldn’t pass on releasing a Metal Slug game here so it’s not a *huge* surprise to see Metal Slug XX rated by the ESRB.

I just didn’t think we would hear anything about it so quickly. Metal Slug XX was just announced in Japan with a December 23 release date. Maybe, we’ll get it around then too.

The other unusual detail about Metal Slug XX’s US release is SNK, not Ignition, is listed as the publisher. Ignition has been responsible for all of SNK’s retail games like The King of Fighters XII and Metal Slug 7 – which Metal Slug XX appears to be based on. Perhaps, Metal Slug XX will be a digital only game since SNK is still credited as the publisher for games like The King of Fighters ‘98: Ultimate Match.

Release it UMD or I’ll pass.

      Ditto, UMD or no sale.

I’ll wait till they get to ten, then release another anthology on all major systems(PS4, Xbox 720, Wii-Wii, etc).

I’ll be playing 2nd Mission on NGPC to tide me over till then

Hey “UMD or I’ll pass” commenters… you do know that even if there’s only a digital release in the US, you can import the Japanese UMD, right? No region restriction, and it’s not like you can’t understand Metal Slug in the Japanese language.

I’m actually hoping for a digital release, and if it does get a US downloadable release that’s the one I’ll be buying. Reducing load times is all right by me, and Sony’s releases are quite easy to manage (use on up to 5 different systems isn’t too harsh of a copy protection measure). Looks likely too, seeing as how SNK has their PSP Neo Geo Arcade collection, Samurai collection, KOF Orochi collection, and Metal Slug Collection already available on PSN.

Hm, you’ve got a point. But still, SNK passing up a physical release in favour of download-only is still detrimental to materialistic/collector gamers such as myself. I don’t mind importing when I know for a fact that a game will never have an English release. Otherwise it’s sorta heart-wrenching. It’s OK if you don’t know what I’m talking about.

You mean that they wouldn’t pass on releasing a Metal Slug game without 3D in the title. It was pretty cheesy, even by Metal Slug standards, but it’s a shame they couldn’t tack it onto the Anthology.

But I’m just rambling now. Co-op means I’m good as sold on XX.
