Now Evangelion, Fate/Stay, And Hatsune Miku Are In Phantasy Star Portable 2

By Spencer . October 15, 2009 . 11:12pm

Sega’s Phantasy Star Portable 2 collaborations continue, but these aren’t as irreverent as their Pizza Hut partnership. Players will be able to download costumes from popular anime series like Fate/Stay Night and Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Fate/Stay Night items include the King’s Knight armor and Excalibur.

Or you can dress up like Shinji, Rei, and Asuka from Evangelion and wield the Lance of Longinus.

But, nothing is more deadly than dressing in a Hatsune Miku outfit armed with Miku’s onion rifle. We’re not kidding about the onion rifle, that’s a real weapon.

Phantasy Star Portable 2 lands in Japan on December 3. We’re not sure if Phantasy Star Portable 2 will see an international release and even if it comes out here Sega may not be able to retain all of these crossover items. Can’t imagine Pizza Hut USA being excited about being in a game where they’re shilling seafood pizzas.

The Evangelion outfit is just Asuka’s. Shinji does wear it in one episode when he’s forced to go into her Eva though.

Shinji’s regular outfit is white and blue. Rei’s is white and black. Maybe we’ll see those as well?

The article in Famitsu shows characters in Rei and Shinji’s costumes, so he isn’t wrong about them.

  • I’m pretty sure that’s what he meant when he wrote that…

What’s with all the pizza hut endorsements though? First Code Geass, then the Wii app, then this. They’re monopolizing the otaku market!

  • That’s sure a meaty Miku!

Too bad I doubt these costumes will be avaliable in the North America release =(

  • You know, this kind of “silly” extra’s thing is what can totally sell me on a game that I’ve played time and time again. If they put some Space Channel 5 costumes in there (Jaguar, Pudding and Ulala!) I’d import it in a heartbeat. For now, I’m going to hope it comes stateside WITH the download options.

Hey, you forgot Purge from Part 2!

The odds are increasingly against us getting all this cool swag if/when the game hits the States, but fingers crossed, all the same.

      • Damn straight. Good call there. Unfortunately, I think you’re right. Do these downloads cost any money?

  • endaround

    Looks like leeks, not onions.

    • Moriken

I’m guessing they are supposed to be spring onions (green onions), not the onions that are common in european cuisine.

Oh i want Eva costume =p
    And Saber too.
Wish I can use Noble Phantasm too

  • kazalt

I don’t think I could use the eva costumes / Lance of Longinus, because I’d be that guy who keeps quasi RPing whichever eva pilot I’m masquerading as at the time.

I want my Berserk, Saint Seiya and Hokuto no Ken outfits…

  • Cloud_ST

Wow,they REALLY want this game to hit big,the eva costumes are a big plus,I wonder if they got any more surprises for use before the release.

  • The outfits are absolutely adorable. I love all three!

Call it a hunch but with this announcement I will bet this titles outsells the original by a large margin in Japan, which considering how well the original did is not an easy task. Adding Hatsune Miku is going to bump sales numbers by 10K easy.
