Konami Bringing DSi Exclusive Monster Finder Stateside?

By Spencer . October 20, 2009 . 9:22am

imageTokyo based developer Alphaunit is working on Monster Finder, a Nintendo DSi exclusive that uses the system’s cameras to create monsters. Since Alphaunit is a small studio they don’t have a US office, but their games are coming to North America… care of Konami.

Gamefly has a listing for Monster Finder and identify Konami as the publisher. It also looks like the Konami / Alphaunit partnership extends beyond that one title. Gamefly also has Batting Cage Revolution, which sounds like a localized version of Alphaunit’s Wii game Batting Revolution, in their database.

Both games, according to Gamefly, are slated to come out in January 2010.

… Not to excited about the DSi game, doesn’t look to promising by screenshots…

DSi exclusive, no thank you! I’d be interested if it worked with other models.

While I don’t own a DSi (yet!), I definitely think it’s a good thing that this title will be coming to NA.
It seems really interesting, and I like the fact that it’s taking advantage of the DSi hardware.

DSi game = region locked = no buy from this European player. Thanks again, Nintendo.

Only the downloadable games are tied to regions. DS cartridges are DS cartridges, the remain non-region-specific.

Right and physical DSi-only are region locked too.

That’s got to be one of the dumbest decisions I’ve ever heard. :(

Yes, and the fact that still now there are gamers that don’t know this (and I don’t mean to offend you) means that Nintendo was right with their approach: stealth region locking, making everyone suppose that only downloadable games were locked, and then screwing EU gamers with the first region locked portable system ever (in 2009!!).

They probably learnt they lesson from Sony, I still remember the uproar when the rumor of region locking for PSP games surfaced.

I might end up purchasing the game if only to play on someone else’s DSi. It looks interesting, but not enough to push me to buy a DSi.

In the recent release of Nintendo Power they give a different name to the game. It’s Foto Fighter
