Power Up Your Characters Faster In Persona 3 Portable

A few gameplay modifications should make Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable easier than the PlayStation 2 version. One new event allows the protagonist to get a part time job as a waiter, similar to Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4. While working you boost charm, courage, and get a small sum of money.



Is your party beat after exploring Tartarus? Not a problem. You can purchase an item from the healing shop that relives the symptom. Personae are easier to customize too since you can use skill cards to fix abilities, just like Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey which we’re going to be posting impressions of tomorrow.

    That’s cool and all, but was the original game THAT hard to begin with?

    • I remember not going to Tartarus often enough, and being severely underleveled for the majority of the time I played. That, combined with the fact that you couldn’t control your teammates, meant a LOT of last-minute grinding and failing on full-moon boss battles.

      But then, I’m not sure if I dig the whole “cursor-navigation” system for P3P. I feel like a big part of the immersion from the first game came from the fact that I could wander around the environment. It’s a sensible design choice for a portable game, to be sure, but I suppose I won’t know until I try.

      Here’s to hoping this comes stateside!

      • I totally agree with Alex B. I too didn’t get to Tartarus enough, partially because my party members would be too tired or sick, and partially because I was frustrated I couldn’t control them in battles.

        Which meant I never beat Persona 3, sadly.

        I genuinely hope this gets a stateside release as well, and in turn inspires Atlus to create Persona 4 Portable. (P4 is just so good, I’d buy it again so I could play it anywhere as well as at home.)

          I’d also like to see a P4 Portable but I want P2 Portable first.

      Well P3P is supposed to have a new higher difficulty, which could make up for the difference if you’re really looking for a challenge, though honestly I’ll take user friendliness over difficulty.

  • Good! this will just enchant the gameplay even more!, like it did with p4, and “lol” to the girl MC in swimswit (if that is really a swimswit -suspense- O_O)

    I broke the “tired” system.
    Normally, if you returned to the foyer when they were tired, they’d automatically go back to the dorm.
    But if you have them separate in a dungeon and they get into a fight with a shadow, you can go to the next floor and leave them behind, then when you return to the foyer they’ll still be available (but tired).
    Useful for levelling without wasting time better spent on social links/MC stats.
