Shadow of Destiny Time Travels To PSP Next Year

By Spencer . October 22, 2009 . 1:29pm

image Konami, confirming earlier leaks, announced the PSP version of Shadow of Destiny for North America. Shadow of Destiny is a murder mystery where players time travel to prevent Eike, the protagonist, from dying. As the story unravels there’s more to Eike and frying pans than meets the eye.

The game is slated for release sometime next year (vague, I know), but Gamefly has it listed for January, 14 2010 (thanks for the tip Jeff D.!!). Can’t imagine Shadow of Destiny taking too much work since an English version exists on the PlayStation 2.

Here’s a look a trailer Konami released for the PSP version.

Charles Martinet is soooo creepy as the homunculus in this game. It was cool to hear him do something other then a bad italian accent.

  • I still have the PS2 version i need to play, I doubt I’ll get this version unless there’s enough new to double dip.

If this was a sequel I would be all over it… As it is, I haven’t seen anything to show it’s any more than a port of the PS2 game that will be almost 9 years old at the time of the PSP release. It’s too bad there doesn’t appear to be much more, but it is good that people who might have missed out on a real gem of a game will get another chance to play it.

I’m a little conflicted though, I would enjoy playing it again (even though I still have my PS2 disc) and supporting this release could encourage Konami to make a full fledged sequel…

Oh, and what’s with those two “spies” – the man and the woman who keep showing up? Never did understand those two :)

  • Oh neat! I love mystery games, I’ll definitely check it out!

    New voice acting?

Okay, watched it a few more times. That’s gotta be Yuri Lowenthal as Eike! Homunculus doesn’t sound the same either.

  • I played this game so many times I must have gotten all the endings 3 times over when it first came out. I can’t see the vid at the moment but it’d be interesting if they had new voice actors. I’d pick it up again for that alone.

wow, that looks interesting, is this some sort of point-and-click adventure game?

I’ve never played this game, but I know that it’s related to Time Hollow (same writer/director?).

The thing is, Time Hollow is my most hated DS game ever, no game made me feel as bad as that so far, and I usually like visual novels.

Should I try Shadow of Destiny? Is it much better plot wise, and is time travel actually meaningful in this game?

  • I had SO much fun working on this game. It’s really smart and never what I expected. I actually looked forward to seeing what was going to happen next and will probably finally get a PSP so I can play it even though I’ve seen all possible endings. The English VO is totally redone, but I can’t comment on the gameplay as I haven’t even played the original version. – Y
