Prinny 2 Gives Prinny A Second Chance To Be A Hero

Prinny 2 Gives Prinny A Second Chance To Be A Hero Nippon Ichi confirmed they are working on a sequel to Prinny: Can I Really be the Hero? while announcing a budget re-release of the first game.

Prinny 2 is in development and that’s all we know about it. Further details, including the platform, have not been announced. Since the reveal is tied to its PSP predecessor it seems like Prinny 2 will end up on the PSP too.

Since Nippon Ichi hasn’t released any details what do you want in your dream version of Prinny 2?

  • Gestahl

The platform was revealed in Dengeki and it's still PSP.

  • nyoron

God I hope they fix the jumping. Yeah yeah it was “part of the challenge” and retro but no. It sucked. Make the game hard in other ways please.

  • malek86

The first one was awesome in itself, but I don't know if I want more of it.

  • Nabeshin

    Nippon Ichi LOVES the PSP!

  • malek86

Every developer loves the PSP in Japan, if you notice. Too bad the same can't be said about the west.

    This.

Not sure how it makes me feel, but malek86 speaks the truth.

You speak volumes of the truth! To add, too bad the same can't be said about Japanese developers and the 360. :(

I want to see how the game turns out; it may actually be a warranted sequel in the end.

  • ryukage2007

It just wouldn't be the same without the jumping like that… go play some more games with jumping like that and you'll get used to it. I doubt they'll change it just because some people said it was “too hard”.

  • shion16

    YEAH!!!!!!!!!

  • nyoron

Oops, I accidentally clicked that I liked your comment lol.

Anyway, I never said it was too hard. But it was a cheap way to increase the difficulty. Platformers can be difficult even with accurate jumping, and I like fighting the enemies and bosses instead of fighting the controls, that's all. Fun game otherwise.

  • Pichi

Happy to hear!! Still need to grab the first one soon.

  • eliel

freaking sweet maby a priny laharl cameo….

Just last week I was saying NIS had stalled on there releases, rar guess I spoke too soon, two sexy new NIS titles I'm interested in, hooray! Especially a Prinny sequel though, the original was excellent, and one of my all time favorite platformers! Now just take the Prinny mechanics a bit further and make me a Disgaea fighter NIS >w<!!

  • http://www.nisamerica.com NickyD

Ever play the older style of Castlevania games? It's not a cheap way to increase the difficulty, really. It's just counting blocks. Like, walking jump = 2 block distance, running jump = 3 block distance… or something.

It's a classic control scheme, nothing more, nothing less.

Though getting that final letter was an exercise in patience like nothing else… I rarely get frustrated and my PSP was so close to snapping in half from that.

  • malek86

Not that the PS3 and Wii have that much support, either. This generation is divided between DS and PSP; where DS gets the mainstream titles, while the PSP gets the nerdier games.

  • http://www.younganimal.com/berserk Mr_Qoo

Yeah, I guess I didn't mention them because they don't have the negative stigma the 360 does as far as being purchased. They definitely don't get the developer support they should, either! Japan: the land of small systems sprinkled along the ever perfectly-timed train system.

OMG YES!! The first game was really fun.

I actually find it charming in this game. I too found it frustrating especially when bopping around enemies and bosses. I got used to it by time the 3rd stage I played though.

Any comments on the fact that part of the title is hidden by our Prinny friend?

  • overlord_laharl

Can you play as Asagi in this new version? XD

We need a harder version, go prinny!

  • Ereek

Seconded. I loved the first game.

  • wildarms

what u talking about D:, mario for super nintendo was harder

  • wildarms

Yeah the psp is the best handled so far (the little games there are, they are and look great) THE FREAKIN PROBLEM is piracy… that seems to be something that dominates america (all america not just north america) and that makes less companies want to localize them, THOUGH ive seen they are making with the new firmwares a hell to the custom firmwares ppl, so they are still fighting piracy, psp can get up, i know it

  • wildarms

i wanna play as laharl! or adell! or Mao! or Almaz!!, or at least i hope they appear!

  • wildarms

ops, sorry i didnt meant to reply you, bad click D:

  • doubleO7

They should make it easier. Or at least add a lower difficulty setting

  • Advent_Andaryu

I vote Adell and Mao. I believe both would be super fun to play as… Although it seems highly unlikely. Prinny is great, but the character itself is really limited… I hope they expand on a lot of things.

Story, characters, stages, enemies = All great
Prinny factor = Losing it's magic

Wouldn't it be super cool if Prinny could use skills from various jobs in Disgaea? Like… Imagine him launching Dimension Slash waves at enemies! >:D

  • wildarms

talking about NIS, it seems NISA now have the official sakura wars page up!, and it seems there are possibilities for it to come this year (must be like 50% this year, 50% next) http://www.sakurawars.us/

  • shirokiryuu

I just bought the one bundled with the CD impulsively, but since I'm terrible at platformers… and only at the third level, I dunno how I'll be able to finish it =( I even bought the extra levels thinking I'd be able to get past this section of one level. I'm always paranoid I'll run out of lives (i'm still at about 975, but… what if??)

  • http://myanimelist.net/profile/Kuronoa Kuronoa

If you run out of lives you start over with a new move (Prinny Raid) that will help you out.

  • maxchain

Mmm, how about a rematch with Cardamon?

  • kupomogli

Thank you, NIS. Prinny was an amazing game, infact the only game your company has created that wasn't crap. Stick to platformers NIS. You do well at them. Let other, better companies, stick with tactical RPG titles.

Anyways. Prinny being designed as sortof an updated Castlevania makes me respect NIS in certain ways because they create a game in a style that I also enjoy, and they also show that they “can actually make it into a good game.”

The jumping is perfect, the attacks are done well, etc. The jumping is like that because it really puts a certain degree of skill. You're also given a second jump to help you incase you screw up with the first jump. As well as the butt stomp to own enemies from the sky. If your jump is going to go too far, do a ground stomp to drop where you want to be at.

I will say the last boss on Prinny was extremely hard though. I died quite a few times on him and after beating him, I'll say my arm was pretty sore for the next 10 minutes or so. You really have to give all you have in attacking him when you have the chance or you won't do enough damage and the faster you press the button the more attacks within each specific time frame. After you memorize the last bosses actions he's not as hard as your first probably 10 times fighting him.

  • gquain

    Yes, it was hard.
But it was hard to the minds of us players too.
I really thought it would be challenging for me like megaman Zero did but it was entire different. Because Megaman Zero had a good story which gave me a reason to fight xD
Prinny is a game which i won't play twice after finished the main story.
It's just too hard even through i can easily play it through in one day.

Prinny is hard because it steals our motivation per dead Prinny xD

Western developers probably love it, too. Twisted Metal: Head On, the GTA games, etc. The thing is, they seem to also love porting them to the PS2 or something afterwards.

Maybe that will change seeing how the PSP store is being more focused on and digital downloads will increase the attention to PSP games.
