I don't think there was a SF show...just those terrible movies. There was a Darkstalkers show and that was probably one of the worst abominations to appear on Saturday morning programming.

Yeah that was before my time, born in 87' means I very rarely saw reruns of these shows, and even the SF explosion of the 90s was just a little early for me. I still say SF was bigger though, mainly due to the arcade explosion in the early 90s and the continued success of the franchise.

Well, actually, Battle of the Planets started in the US in 1978, to capitalize on the Star Wars craze (as I mentioned). Was shown afterschool. And Speed Racer was always on in syndication. Used to watch that in the mornings before I went to school.

Anyway, my point was, people who grew up in my generation (X) are probably more familiar with Speed Racer and G-Force/Battle of the Planets than they are with Ryu and co. If only like me, remember seeing that beak helmet.

Whereas people who grew up later (Generation Y and whatever came after), with the SNES/Genesis are more familiar with the Capcom characters but have no idea about the shows...

A last minute reveal would be a smart move for Capcom as it is still 3 months away till we all receive this game. So anything in between that time to generate more hype and buzz could help them.

I thought something was off w/ Zero, he has more of an X expression... both the Jpn (frontal) and the US (sideways) covers look nice and complimentary to each other, "almost" makes double dipping less of a complaint haha..

I love the new cover, Ken the Eagle looks badass! He was always my favorite to use in the original version.

The only thing I would change is Casshern and Tekkaman's place. Casshern is pretty popular here, and you can barely see him! Zero should look more serious but I'm not complaining.

BTW, the original Tekkaman was way too old for me, but I loved the sequel Space Knight Tekkaman Blade, which was edited as Teknoman here in the 90's, along w/ Sailormoon and Dragonball.. D-Boy (Aiba Takaya) / Blade became "Slade"... reminds me of Billy Bob Thornton's Sling Blade :)

Like you said, for those who grew up in Jpn or familiar w/ anime oldies, "Tatsunoko" was synonyomous w/ the awesome giant robot shows. I remember Gold Lightan (all those lighters turn into robots) and the villain trio from Time Bokan (when they lost they would always get blown away and a skeleton mushroom would come up), but I was very young when I was those shows. A Gold Lightan CG film would be so awesome, I used to have those toys too that could transform...

They had a limited run during what the late 60's and early 70's? The Atari 2600 was still 9-10 years away. Not too mention Street Fighter is still relevant after almost 20 years on the market, and was THE biggest game in the early 90's console and arcade boom, selling more then 13 million copies just on the SNES (1.65mil of that on GEN).

And those are actually the only 2 properties I can pick out and recognize, Speed Racer and Joe the Condor (which I've seen but couldn't quite place).
