BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Trailer Barrier Bursts On To The Web

By Spencer . October 29, 2009 . 12:46am

There’s a bit of BlazBlue: Continuum Shift gameplay footage to see and (surprise!) it looks like BlazBlue! Continuum Shift, Arc System Works’ “championship edition” follow up to BlazBlue, adds two new characters Hamza and Yayoi to the roster, re-balances the game, and includes an easy to play beginners mode.

This trailer is light on listing features, but has plenty of anime scenes for fans to see.

Want to see more? Poke around the net for handcam videos on Monday. Arc System Works is holding another BlazBlue: Continuum Shift location test this weekend.

i can’t wait for this to come out until then i have tekken 6 to tied me over even when ssf4 and this comes out. I’ll be busy for awhile XD

Definitely looking forward to this one. It looks like Arc is really putting a lot of thought and effort into tweaking BlazBlue for the better.

Sadly I’ll have to relearn how to play Nu from the ground up, but I’m fine with that as long as it gets people to stop whining about “OP” when they can’t reach me.

Too bad nu IS OP right now. It’s common knowledge. That said, I hope Lambda is a balanced character so I can occasionally play her without feeling like a jerk.

As for this game, there better be at least a third character (I’m hoping for Kokonoe). But no matter what I’m pretty much going to have to buy this anyway, as the online playerbase will be migrating.

I’ll be the first to admit that Nu is OP, but the magnitude of how OP she is often gets completely blown out of proportion by people who don’t realize that once you get inside her comfort zone, it can easily and quickly be all over for her. IIRC, the majority of her matchups are 6.5 -tops-. Again, it is people who would rather whine than try and learn how to work around it. It’s this whining that I hope Lamb-chan brings an end to.

On another note, here’s to hoping that a console release of CS keeps the arcade opening as well. I’m still sad to this day that the arcade opening never comes up on Calamity Trigger unless I specifically play it in the gallery. =(

        EDIT –

There. Aside from Haku and Tager (who are 65 and 70 respectively) Nu only wins an average of 5.5 or 6 times out of every 10. Hardly as OP as people would lead one to believe.

    Finally, opening done right.

So this is just an upgrade version?

Aha, I knew waiting to buy this game would benefit me more in the end.

Given how the two versions BlazBlue have different subtitles, it could very well be a sequel, and might continue that trend. But I have a feeling it’ll be very Guilty Gear-like in terms of upgrades. They’ll add very one or two characters each iteration, and they’ll probably be “reverse” or “what if” versions of existing ones.

As for the new playable characters that we see in the intro, they were fairly predictable, though I would’ve guess they’d have at least added Jubei and Kokonoe. Makoto seems like she’d be a possible future character, though she’d be a really weird one on the lines of Taokaka. Though we don’t see it in action, Valkenhayn is implied to be a fighter in the story mode of the original too. But there’s always new iterations for them to be added in.
