I think Nintendo expected 3rd parties to step it up a bit more in Wii's 3rd year, like they did on DS. Outside Monster Hunter, that hasn't really happened though so far.

Agreed. I think being in 'first place' has made them particularly lazy. I see absolutely no blockbuster hits, at least a couple of them are decent games but the rest... Whatever. GameCube port overload to say the least. :s

They're gonna have to pick it up next year, the Wii isn't going to sell like hotcakes forever. Their shtick is wearing off, I'm not 'wowed' by the Wii anymore.

Pick it up, Nintendo.

At least they realize this, but what are they going to do about it?
I'm not the type that really keeps up with first party Wii games, but looking at that list - yikes! I haven't played all those games and there are some really solid looking ones there, but I don't see how anyone can hold their nose for Nintendo Wii games. I'd feel sorry for anyone that does 'cause they deserve better than that.

I like how they handled the N64; release one or two big titles a year, real gangbuster games, then publish quality games directed to a little more solid audience, like what Rare was doing.
I think that's part of it. Big N doesn't have something like Rare by their side to fill in the gaps.

Wii releases this year really weren't that good. I mean, Muramasa and Metroid Prime Trilogy were good titles, but that's not enough I think.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii will probably be Nintendo's saving grace. I didn't even like NSMB DS but I cannot wait for the Wii version.

rar, Nintendo's line up all this year and even the year prior (starting around May) has been weaksauce, imo. Both 1st and 3rd party titles both, not saying there hasn't been rare titles that were exceptional but, maan I just haven't been feeling like Nintendo's been competitive lately with the 360 and PS3 from the hardcore perspective.

Still half-convinced Nintendo is (in subtle ways) slightly sabotaging some second and third party releases, Takt of Magic and Another Code R being somewhat decent examples.

If you ask me, Punch-out!! and Mario & Sonic were the only two big hits Nintendo had this past year.
Just my opinion, though. I'm sure NDP sales charts will prove me wrong!
