strangejourney_boxart_promo You’ve been expecting it. Atlus made an official announcement. Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey will be released overseas next spring. Maybe March, if Amazon’s leak was right.

Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey takes place in the Antarctic where a growing black hole looms. The abyss is a gate to another world, called the Scharzwelt and Earth’s best soldiers are sent in to explore it.

You’re one of them.

Under the guidance of Commander Gore you equip a Demonica suit and explore the demon filled world. Strange Journey has over 300 demons to fight, negotiate, and party with. For more information about the game’s systems check out our past coverage and read our playtest.

Here’s a look at the English version, which dubs the hero Shabadoo.

The Atlus Faithful newletter does actually say March 10th.

  • JeremyR

Someone at Atlus is a Simpsons fan.

Woke up this afternoon (yes, afternoon) to find this in my email and promptly preordered it. This is a nice treat after having to delete numerous emails from Atlus due to lack of interest in their lineup.

  • Very glad Atlus isn’t using the font with the squished m’s and w’s for this one. That bugged the crap out of me in Retro Game Challenge (and Dark Spire had the same problem)

    So bought.

“Again?” RGC was published by XSEED. Though it did bother me in The Dark Spire.

      • Where are you reading that “again”, sir? :)

I mention RGC primarily because I didn’t buy Dark Spire — but learned from another site that it and a few other games from assorted publishers share this problem.

  • DDanny

Oh yeah, finally a true classic megaten game in the states.

  • Shabadoo seems really Lucky. No, literally! Is that picture of the main character stock, or do you get to pick from a range of “avatars?” I actually like it since you don’t look like a 16 year old high school student. It’s a nice change from the Persona series, after seeing the kids for so long.

    • Hraesvelgr

The main character’s appearance is set, as far as I know. I believe they make the characters look less “fantastical” because it’s supposed to be “you”.

…well, they’ve said something to that extent before.

  • Now that this [expletive deleted] is announced, they can finally get to announcing P3P!

    • Hraesvelgr

I really hope your deleted expletive was meant in a good way. This game is apparently brilliant, at least much more so than the port of a twice released game.

yum. English screens. the game looks nice.
