Capcom Is Not Going To Be Happy About This Use Of Chun-Li

By Spencer . November 10, 2009 . 12:15pm

Chun-Li is moonlighting and shilling some browser based game called Kingory — without Capcom’s permission, of course.

Kingory’s publisher borrowed the Capcom owned character to promote their “real time strategy flash game” and are putting Chun-Li in ads, just like this one.

Kingory appears to be connected to another game also shrouded in controversy over the way it was advertised called Evony. We’re not sure if Capcom is aware of this so we’ll give them a buzz and see if they have any comments.

I’ve noticed those a bunch of times here on this site!

Capcom’s not going to be happy? Screw that Artgerm the artist who drew that fantastic picture is not going to be happy. This happens alot I have seen AMD ads in Tiger Direct using Killzone 2 art work, dont make it right though.

  • It’s not an official CAPCOM image, it’s Chunli Style, uploaded by DevintArt’s user Artgerm:

So they actually ripped off someone’s fanart to promote their site? *sighs*

    • Wow. So shameless.

    • kupomogli

Yeah, that’s screwed up. Not like the user can even do anything about it either.

Oh, it’s fine. Already like a hundred users, me included informed him.

        I smell a lawsuit.

    • Thanks for the link. :) Didn’t realize it wasn’t official art since it was so well done. Either way it’s still Chun Li and Capcom has legal rights to her.

      I think I’m in love…

  • “Exotic Extravagance Gameplay.” Nice grammar.

  • Well, sort of. I believe ArtGerm is on the Udon team, which does exclusive work for Capcom in the comics realm of things. This image is also in the tribute book, which in turn is owned (in some part) by Capcom. In any case, boo-urns.

Not to mention Capcom sells this particular piece of art as a lithograph on their community website.

I imagine if they have the right to sell it, they have the right to determine where this can be used.
