Microsoft Giving Out Exclusive Final Fantasy XIII Xbox Live Item

Microsoft Giving Out Exclusive Final Fantasy XIII Xbox Live ItemMicrosoft is psyched about Final Fantasy XIII’s release date and they want you to be excited too. To promote Final Fantasy XIII’s Xbox 360 launch they’re running a Twitter campaign. After an ambiguous number of tweets Microsoft will give everyone that registers “an exclusive Xbox Live item for Final Fantasy XIII.”

No word what the item is. It might be avatar clothes. It might be a theme. It’s probably not going to be exclusive DLC since the “free gift token” will be sent to registrants in December.

Register and get the secret gift here.

I'm getting it for PS3, but registered anyway. I think you're right about it being someting like avatar clothes or a theme, so it shouldn't matter.

Somehow I don't think a non-in-game item is going to increase sales for the 360 version.

US only. I'm upset and disgusted.

I doubt it's anything special, really.

I like avatar gear and premium themes >:C

If I'm only buying the game once, yeah I would stick w/ PS3's blu-ray. But since I'm getting the Jpn copy on PS3, little things like free avatar items /premium themes and achievement might just make me buy the US version for the 360 (and also the idea of playing FF on an Xbox for the first time). I won't buy them 99% of the time, but I'm a sucker for free stuff. Right now I'm using the free Halo ODST theme and that thing that's floating around my avatar. Oh yeah, need to watch the new episode of Halo Legends today.

How does this work anyway, does one need to use twitter? I just set up an account before but never really “tweeted”..

This is a PS3 game to me, always has been. I see no benefit to playing this game on a 360, and the novelty of playing a FF on Xbox is lost on me as I never cared about 360 getting this game. I would rather see MS invest into their first party development as it has been lacking for quite some time (my opinion of course). I would much rather see more Voodoo Vince, Blinx the Cat and Phantom Dust efforts, then watch them piss their money away paying for games that PS3 was getting anyway, and for what outside of some boasting and fanboy gloating it does little if anything. Personally I like system exclusives (not stupid paid for timed ones but real exclusives), it drives the industry forward. Much like full digital distribution I dont believe in a “one console” future, as no console that has ever released has been good enough to be the only one. There are benefits to each and disadvantages to each. Consumers should always have choices.

Im getting this game for PS3. 1 blu-ray beats multiple DVD's, especially for backtracking and side quests. I got tired of swaping discs in Lost Odyssey so since I can avoid the issue I will. This wasn't an issue on the PSone because you only had to swap out the discs for FF 7 8 or 9 the one time (heck to my knowledge you cant even load a disc 2 save on any of the other discs). Now it all comes down to not having enough space on the DVD so certain things are only available on certain discs.

Lost Odyssey was exactly like the old PS1 games in that you only swapped discs once, so I don't know what you're talking about here. We don't know yet what FFXIII will end up like; it's possible it will be like Lost Odyssey and the PS1 FF games, where the game world was duplicated across the discs and the only thing that changed was the FMV/cutscene data.

Unless the 360 version is superior is some way (unlikely), I'll get the PS3 version, although if the 360 version is identical in content/performance I may get that one since I expect there to be an international/”final” release for the PS3 in Japan down the road. I'd buy that especially if there was dual audio.

I'll be getting this game for 360. Multiple discs doesn't bother me, but anyway, hope this is something cool. Don't really care for the avatars.

That's decent, too bad UK isn't all of Europe :/

You could always register a US or UK xbox live silver account to get the freebie.

I was pretty sure I had to swap discs to do some of the “dream sequences” when I got further in the game but perhaps I am remembering wrong. Still even though I skipped out on Star Ocean on 360 I know that game makes you swap discs if you want to do side quests (friend of mine has it and was always moaning about it).
