You may want to give it a go again. Now you can earn ribbons by posting pictures, selling clothes you don't want and by commenting on clothes other people have posted. It still takes a while to earn ribbons, but still.

(Also, you get ribbons from people suteki-ing your posted clothes.)

yes I confess I've tried it (a year or so ago). But I got bored rather quickly because it was so difficult to earn jewels.
