Oh it's not just this game. I'm not sure about the man, but the woman is a comedian or some kind of “talent” here in Japan. Recently there have been a LOT of Nintendo commercials with these kinds of people, such as Made in Ore, or even the entire DSi handheld.

They are designed to appeal to the non-gamer.

Oh I just saw these on the Yamanote Line this morning. There were a few interested glances from people on the train.

Suddenly I'm starting to get interested in this game. Though I question why Nintendo won't release it here until December.

Nah, not the old "Play Beyond" ones (though the black goo w/ octopus tentacles was pretty cool), that baby was creepy, but I meant recent ads like these, they actually make me laugh instead going WTH.

Sony's older commercials for the PS3 have been crap but some of the newer ones like Aoshi said are actually humorous.

This is nothing compared to the PS3 Slim/PSP Go commercials w/ people making faces. I know “weird” comes w/ the territory when talking about Jpn ads, but they just look disturbing and silly… while the US “It only does everything” ads are quite funny.
