Nintendo Planning Book, Music, And Manga Wii Channels?

imageNintendo launched an video on demand channel called Wii no Ma (Wii’s Room) in Japan this past May. The free service has Miis huddle around a virtual TV where you can select video clips and watch sponsored videos by clicking on a houseplant.

Beyond Wii no Ma, Nintendo may have other services in mind like books or manga on demand. Nintendo trademarked a batch of “no Ma” titles in Japan.

image Here’s a translated list:

Book Room
Music Room
Picture Book Room
Manga Room
Local Room

These may be protective trademarks, but as services they sound more reasonable than the medical room and real estate room trademarks we discovered earlier this year.

What do you think about using the Wii as an electronic picture book reader, a hub for local events, or a digital manga library?

I would dig Music or Manga no ma, I got tired of watching those commercials, though sometimes I find myself curiously watching the kids’ educational programs, or hollywood trailers dubbed in Jpn :)
