In Phantasy Star Portable 2 The Power Of Famitsu Is Mightier Than The Sword

By Spencer . November 20, 2009 . 9:43am

In Phantasy Star Portable 2 you can equip a Famitsu magazine as a shield. Seriously. This isn’t an ordinary issue from a convenience store, it’s the Iron Wall of Famitsu.

Time your block right and you blind your enemy with Famitsu’s logo.

The Famitsu shield is one of many product placement deals Sega made for Phantasy Star Portable 2. Some, like the Evangelion costumes, fit. Others like the Pizza Hut stand are just hilarious. official Star Portable 2 blog mentions more game magazine partnerships. What’s next? The Legendary Dengeki Sword?

  • Hah, I can’t wait to see this game’s Famitsu score.

Reminds me of the whole Luc Bernard / Destructoid fiasco.

  • This is somewhat amusing. But not as cool as Miku’s leek weapon thinger.

  • Hahahha! I also downloaded Famitsu “Book” Covers for Culdcept Saga on top of all their other content available. At least the Famitsu ones were free. Fun!

Doesn’t beat the Pizza shield though.

Looks like they’re going to get 40/40.

Or close. Everyone already knows Famitsu is paid off though.

  • good strategy for good reviews

If they’re gonna be this silly I want a playable Segata Sanshiro and Ryo Hazuki from Shenmue

I hope PSP2 makes it over to the US will all of this ridiculous fanservice intact! It looks awesome!

Well there were books as weapons clear back to PSO, so it’s just a graphics swap. I’d much prefer smacking a booma upside the head with a playboy though.

But still place a vote for this in game swag coming stateside… all they need to make sure they include is CAKE!
