Namco Bandai Cooks Up Tekken 6 Patch For Thanksgiving

Remember that fix Namco Bandai was working on for Tekken 6? The online update will be ready this Thursday and contains a bunch of network enhancements.

Here’s what the patch addresses:

Improved input response: improvement of the game’s responsiveness to button / command inputs;
Selectable search priorities for ranked matches: players will be able to set search priorities for opponents in ranked matches based on comparable rank or connection quality as well as location;
Optimized data transmission between fighters and spectators: fight data will be optimized in order to reduce the bandwidth load on the host’s console;
Signal strength bars: the signal strength bar will reflect connection quality more accurately;
Chance to cancel match: players will be able to cancel the match before it begins once the opponent’s signal strength has been displayed on ranked matches.

The most important bullet point is the middle one. Let’s hope this fixes the most pressing issue – laggy online play.

    They also need to fix a couple of other stuff:1.The option to skip the character cinematics after the online battle ends.As it is,It’s VERY irritating.T5DRO had this option.2.The room should not get automatically closed if the host decides to leave.The player who entered the room after the host should be automatically assigned as the new host.This was also in T5DRO.I never thought i’d say this but T5DRO actually feels and plays much better than Tekken 6.Tekken 6 was a huge disappointment for me,and i’ve been a fan of the series since Tekken 3.

    I’m not a fan of Tekken, but Amazon just had the limited edition bundle (game + hard cover artbook + wireless Hori stick) going for $60 a couple of hrs ago as one of their Black Friday deals. I’ve heard lags for online and such, but at that price, I can’t believe I missed such a bargain :(… sigh.. Then again, I’ve been on a spending spree lately as I just got the RAP yesterday for $120… still an extra Hori wireless stick (regardless of quality) at such low price wouldn’t hurt…
