Next Professor Layton Game Revealed

Professor Layton and the Devil’s Flute kicks off a new Layton trilogy when it comes out this week. This arc takes place before Professor Layton and the Curious Village and explores how Layton met his protégé.

Next year, Level 5 has Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracles on their schedule. This game takes place in a casino city called Montedoll where Layton investigates a wish granting mask. Level 5 didn’t share any gameplay details so you’ll have to imagine Layton solving brainteasers, given to him by clowns, in a carnival.

Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracles is slated for fall 2010. Since we’re still waiting for the finale to the first trilogy I wouldn’t count on a domestic release of Mask of Miracles anytime soon.

  • *Falls off her seat in anxious anticipation* Wheeeeee!

I hope White Knight Chronicles doesnt end up like this… WKC2 is already announced and we dont even have WKC here in europe/stateside!

Im a sucker for Professor Layton, so this is always great news that they keep on doing Layton Games.

What’s even worse is that we still don’t even have an official release date for WKC…The game is supposed to come out around february-march and i’m afraid it’s gonna be crushed by FFXIII.
Level 5 really screwed their western fans with WKC.

      Sorry for getting off topic.

      • It’ll bomb regardless of how close its released to FFXIII anyway i reckon , look at games like Star Ocean , eternal sonata etc – western audience just aint ready i tells ya

  • Yay! *Hurries off to finish the other ones*

I’m trying to finally finish the third one right now, I think I’m almost done, I’m so slow w/ these DS games… After seeing the new trailer, coinciding w/ the recent Christmas coupon from P-A, I also got suckered into pre-ordering this as well. But I dropped the young Luke plushie, alrdy spent like crazy this holiday..

T_______T we are so behind Japan. Level 5 give us more love please?

    • Tokyo Guy

Have any of Level 5’s games been particularly successful overseas? That might explain their priorities.

      • badmoogle

I think the Layton series is quite successful in the west.Dragon Quest VIII also did very good although it wasn’t published by Level 5.

Layton series sells very well in EU, and modestly well in America. So I think taken together, the Layton series sells more in EU and America than Japan, so I don’t understand why we are 3 games behind Japan. T________________TI’m not sure about their other series, but I was just mourning the lack of Layton in North America. It would be nice to see Izuna Eleven, but I’ve given up on that since there is no word about localization whatsoever.
