Absolute Hero Modding Project Slated For March 2010

There’s a deluge of original Nippon Ichi games coming in early 2010. Last Rebellion, Classic Dungeon, and Absolute Hero Modding Project, a dungeon RPG with a customizable hero, will be out in Japan before spring. Dengeki squeaked out Absolute Hero Modding Project’s release date which is March 11, 2010.

The game’s hero can equip different parts like Bat Wings that to dodge mines and a hookshot-like Magic Hand. Each part changes your hero’s appearance. You can even make him look like a Prinny!

Aside from Prinny parts and a Prism Ranger base in town, Absolute Hero Modding Project isn’t related to Disgaea. Although, the art style and random dungeons give the game a Disgaea feel.

Did someone decide that 2010 would only be three months long and not tell me? Everything is coming in March.

You didn't hear? They're resetting the world calendar so we don't all implode in 2012. Thus, as many amazing games as possible in the ludicrously shortened 2010.

I'm so glad they got rid of the Disgaea character designer for every game they develop, this one I like better.

rar, I like the concept of Absolute Hero Modding Project, and the screens look good, but to me the artwork/character design suffers from feeling super-super amateurish. What kind of gets me is the contrast in quality level between this new artist's style, and the sprites themselves which still have that very Harada-esque look. But at the same time I'm a huge Harada fan, his visual style and character design has always been one of my all time favorites out there.

I dunno, I like the new guy's style. I'm a big Harada fan myself but I wouldn't mind if he just stuck to the Disgaea series.

What's up with all these damn PSP games? ugh. but since I'm a sucker for anything that looks ANYTHING like Disgaea… I'll be getting this too. but they should really consider making a new gen Disgaea or any of their other series (or even a new one) and update the 2D sprites and the 3D backrounds. That would be dope.

Have you seen his doujins? They're very nice! He illustrates many other characters from other games and a few original ones. I'd love to see Harada design characters for a different genre than Disgaea, like a brawler or shooter.

Maybe they're still trying to wedge into the PS3 (360?) market. Was Disgaea 3 succeful enough for them? At any rate, they might be planning something.. cautiously.

But, these PSP games are pretty cool, so I don't mind this phase they're having.

  • nyoron

Actually I haven't, most of his work that I've seen outside of Disgaea is Pleinair related. I'll keep a look out.
