White Knight Chronicles Goes International In February

By Spencer . December 4, 2009 . 11:01am

imageLevel-5’s transforming hero RPG will finally be available in North America on February 2, 2010. To distinguish this version of White Knight Chronicles from the two other releases already out in Japan, Sony added an “International Edition” subtitle.

So far, White Knight Chronicles: International Edition has the most content on disc. We get fifty disc-based online quests, the village building Georama system Level-5 added to the Japanese release as a download, “live talk” (read: party chat), voice chat for online play, and most importantly a localized version of the game.

Sounds like Sony Computer Entertainment America will release additional content after the game arrives in North America. Cristian Cardona, Associate Product Manager, says on the PlayStation Blog, “Wait until you hear what else we’ll have at launch!” SCEJ steadily released free quests, rebalanced the game, and added content to White Knight Chronicles for almost a year after it launched in Japan.

You’re kidding me. They’re sending it out onto the battlefield in that absolutely insane first quarter?

    • http://www.younganimal.com/berserk Mr_Qoo

Not even a life of unemployment could prepare me for the 2010 backlog that will already have started by the time February ends…

      • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

*looks sadly at his pile of unfinished games*

        *sniff* Backlog…

        • Ereek

          I’m with you here.

At least now I’m absolutely positive that my next semester is going to suffer.

          • http://www.younganimal.com/berserk Mr_Qoo

With the output of games coming I’m surprised you’re even giving yourself a “semester” at all.

I hope there’s at least a week between Heavy Rain and WKC.

      • Kris

I’m just hoping I can clear a bunch of games over winter break, so I’ll be ready for 2010!

*Looks at nearly unplayed Persona Remake and Devil Summoner 2*
        Well, maybe not…

  • kupomogli

Since this is published by Sony as first party, it’ll be years before it gets a price drop so might pick this one up early on.

    • http://denpanosekai.blogspot.com denpanosekai

Huh? Years? I’m thinking the opposite: this is the kind of game that will get reissued as a Greatest Hits title sooner or later.

      • kupomogli

I mean years as in two years. Uncharted was just about two years old before it became Greatest Hits.

        • http://denpanosekai.blogspot.com denpanosekai

Right then we are agreed. I usually use “years” as in “billions of years” ;)

finnallyyyyy! god, longest localization so far, though it was not just localizing, they even added new stuff and fixed stuff, or so i heard

  • http://denpanosekai.blogspot.com denpanosekai

yikes this + star ocean 4 in feb?at least I should be done with Demon’s Souls by then (going for plat)so… no PS3 backlog for me!Wii backlog OTOH………………………………

  • Uoynwoi

It looks great but I think I’d rather wait for FFXIII.

  • http://soundcloud.com/tet-chan TetsuyaHikari

Well, I’m glad I didn’t give in and import the EX edition since this version seems to have even more content + fixes. I’ve complained about the wait for this game from time to time, but in the end, I think it will be worth it, honestly. I just hate how it’s thrown into Q1 of ’10 with the rest of them, lol.

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. I’m going to be spending at least $1,000 on PS3 games in 2010 from the looks of it, haha.

  • vall03

Ive been keeping an eye on this game since last year, does the game focus on offline or online quests?

    • http://thrust-the-sky.deviantart.com/ WildArms

there is the main story, but it seems now we can do quests together in online mode, also we will have a “georama” (like dark cloud series if u’ve played them) where we create like our own town (where we get into when we go in online mode)

      • vall03

so the online mode is for optional co-op mode? sounds great! But I dont think I can get this on Feb since I still dont have a PS3, I guess I’ll just have to get it along with 3D Dot Game Heroes around May/June
