Valkyria Chronicles 2 Producer Would Like To Develop Valkyria On PSP And PS3

By Spencer . December 8, 2009 . 7:58am

imageShuntaro Tanaka, Producer of Valkyria Chronicles 2, posted thoughts about bringing the series to the PSP on his blog. The main reason Valkyria switched platforms is Sega wants to expand the audience for the series. A survey found that 95% of people that played the first game (or 95% of the survey respondents) were men and the age group was higher than expected.

Developing next generation titles takes an enormous amount of money, Tanaka laments. He candidly says, PlayStation 3 hits like Yakuza and Metal Gear Solid grew their fanbase on the PlayStation 2. Since the PlayStation 2 isn’t a popular platform anymore Sega moved Valkyria Chronicles to the PSP.

However, Tanaka would like to bring Valkyria series back to the PS3. He says, “My personal dream vision is to develop Valkyria Chronicles for both PSP and PlayStation 3.”

  • Randgriz

This is great news, some people were doubting about Valkyria Chronicles next installment, but this will be resurring to those who thought VC was PSP bound.

Im also glad this solidifes the series with Sony exclusivly.

    I’m all for this idea

  • badmoogle

I like his dream!:)I would love to see the series expand in both PS3 and PSP.

    Can’t wait for VC2!

  • [The Hunter] Doomrider

Oh yes, it’s my personal dream vision to see you develop VC on both platforms Tanaka. Please do

My biggest fear now is that after I get Valkyria Chronicles 2 on the PSP, it’ll show up on the PS3 after a while to taunt me and my attempts to make uniform collections of series.

  • Yes man, dreams sometimes come truth, BELIVE IN YOURSELF…. me want valkyria :D

  • I fully support his dream :)

Eh wut? Only about 5% were girls?

    • Ereek

Likely in Japan only 5% were girls. I’d actually say the value is higher in North America.

      • Hmmm very well possible.

Now that I think of it the game does have a more ‘guy’ feel, maybe because of the army element(?). But I expected that the RPG elements and the art style would attract more girls than just 5%.

I salute you Shuntaro Tanaka! I would love to see the series continue on PS3.

  • He better bring it back to the PS3! I’m gonna buy VC2, but I would have loved if it was still on the PS3…

  • Uoynwoi

I was a bit dissapointed to hear VC2 would not be on the PS3. Good to know it is at least in the thought process.

  • I’m actually quite happy when they announced it for PSP cause I don’t have PS3 it’s too expensive for me!! XD

  • YES! Please! Thank god!

Bring it back to PS3 ASAP!!!

    /fanboy slightly satiated…. for now…

  • T__T yes pls gimme back my VC on Ps3 with dialogue choice pls , «« cause im seeing i wont get it on PSP , and since its an anime style game id like Japanese voices «« ill await its realease .
Or does anyone know a PSP rpg that has dialogue choice?

I too would like to see Valkyria Chronicles return to the PS3. Now I’m far from a graphics whore, but the visual style and art direction are what initially pulled me into the game(It’s simply beautiful). The story and battles are what made me stick around.

I’m not trying to bash the PSP, but the downgrade doesn’t cut it for me. I understand the reasons for the platform switch. It’s just that they seem to be moving away from what made the first one so amazing(I’m really not liking the school system).

I’m sure it will be a good game, but heres to hoping the next installment will be on the PS3.

Please do bring it back to the PS3. As not everyone has a PSP and the original was an amazing title (that was underhyped in my opinion). But i think more people have had time now for 2 to do well.
