A couple of readers sent tips (thanks everyone!!) that Gamestops around the country are selling The Crystal Bearers early. You don’t need to have a pre-order either. Some stores have enough stock to cater walk-ins.

Check around and try your luck. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers officially comes out on December 26.

I went to my local Game Stop about a month ago to pre-order it and the employee says “December 26th? That’s the released date?! A day after Christmas, that’s stupid.”

So I bet a lot of GS workers are annoyed by this so they are releasing it early. Just a guess. I’ll stop by tomorrow and see if my GS is releasing it early.

Yep, I got my copy of Crystal Bearers early! The guy told me that games that are not well known can be released early and no one will notice, and Game Stops around the country probably had the same way of thinking as them.

But yeah, I’m glad they released it early. I got a massive order on Amazon coming after Christmas, so I will have time to play everything! :D

  • Wow, I didn’t know it was street dated. I actually got a text message from Gamestop’s system at the beginning of the week that it would be in Thursday. I picked it up yesterday. Well, can’t complain. I’ll pass it on to anyone who really wanted it and may not have known either.

    Yeah Dec 26 IS stupid

Awesome! This would make a great early Christmas gift. XD

I’m just wondering if the game industry is like the music industry when it comes to breaking street date. Do the retailers get fined if they sell something early?
I know that’s how it works for music retailers.

I picked it up today. Apparently the game is not actually street dated at all which is why they’re selling it.

Usually it worries me when a shop releases a game early. It usually means that their industry magazines have shown the game to be underwhelming, and the release is a response by the company to sell some copies before the bulk of the reviews roll out.

Then again, it is Christmas, that is also likely to have a bearing.
