New Lupin Game Takes A Hint From Metal Gear Solid

New Lupin Game Takes A Hint From Metal Gear Solid I thought Lupin the Third: The Greatest Brain Battle in History was just a series of brain teasers. A Lupin version of Professor Layton, if you will. It’s not. There’s a whole sneaking game that links the IQ missions together.

As Lupin, you jump with the B button, push crates, trigger switches, and sneak past guards to steal treasure. All of this takes place on 2D maps, which makes it stand out from other stealth games.

Part puzzle solving, part sneaking, and part brain teasers. That’s Lupin the Third: The Greatest Brain Battle in History. Oh, and part Fujiko Mine. There’s a mini-game where you massage her. The Nintendo DS game comes out in Japan on February 11. Check out a trailer and TV commercial on the official site.

Lupin the 3rd Treasure of Sorcerer King was sort of like Metal Gear Solid with Lupin the 3rd.

I'm not really a fan of the MGS games and Lupin actually made the stealth aspects a bit better in my opinion. Changing costumes so you're not noticed, a map of where you've been that also shows enemy locations, etc.

Why does erotic imagery always look more erotic in a non-ero game?

  • Ereek

Probably because the Ero and H-games are so over-the-top. In a way, being more subdued makes it more erotic, I suppose. I'd say it's like how a woman in her bra and underwear can look far sexier than one who is naked.

Of course, my definition of sexy is probably different from the male definition of sexy.

    Well its also Fujiko

    “Well its also Fujiko”

    ^^ This.

Game looks pretty cool though, the second trailer on the linked site looks quite fun. Side scrolling sections look a little like a more stealthy take on the style of stuff like the Oddworld sidescrollers, Blackthorne, Flashback.

Doubtful it shows up outside Japan, which means that my measly Japanese would probably make many of the IQ Game portions unplayable. But I'd totally buy an English release if it happened (hey, we got the PS2 Lupin game)…

Fujiko Mine mini game..mmm. I really want this game now.

  • MisterNiwa

But your display picture definetly shows Gintoki-Sensei.

    YOU SIR, ARE A PHONY.

  • EvilAkito

Wow, this looks awesome. But I guess it's one of those cool games we'll never see in the west.

  • kylehyde

Fujiko Mine is the only two big reasons that I need for wanting this game.

Actually, I think that's pretty close to my definition, too. I agree with you about the subdued and underwear point. Also, the love metre on the left is hilarious!

Am I the only one who is reminded of Doki Doki Majo Shinpan from the “touching a female's body and pink hearts come out” scene from that Fujiko screencap?

    Yikes.
