Level 5 Opens Tokyo Office For “Overseas Business”

Level 5 is expanding beyond their headquarters in Fukuoka. The Professor Layton and Inazuma Eleven developer opened a new office in Tokyo.

This office specializes in mobile projects such as ROID, new enterprises, and overseas business. Sounds like Level 5 is gearing up to distribute their intellectual properties worldwide.

In North America, few of Level 5’s works crossed the Pacific Ocean. Games like Dragon Quest VIII, Jeanne d’Arc, and White Knight Chronicles were given to Level 5 to develop. The only original Level 5 property that left Japan is Professor Layton, which Nintendo published.

Level 5 has a suite of other titles such as Ni no Kuni: The Another World, Fantasy Life, Ushiro, The Little Battlers, and Inazuma Eleven that could benefit from “overseas business”. Word is their soccer RPG will go international, but a publisher for Inazuma Eleven has not been announced.

    Ushiro come overseas please!

    • MisterNiwa

This! And Release White Knight Chronicles 2 faster than White Knight Chronicles!

  • Soma

A North American release of Ni no Kuni would be amazing. Absolutely amazing.
Also, looking forward to White Knight Chronicles.
Less than a month away! =3

Agreed. Can’t wait to play WKC.

Ushiro is one of my most wanted from Level 5. The game looks really awesome.

  • thebanditking

Personally I would love to see Ushiro and Cardboard Senki make it over here, and I am fairly sure they will. White Knight 2 is a no brainer, though I really dont know if we will see Ni no Kuni over here, just seems like a big job and unless Nintendo themselves picks it up I dont know who else would. Though it goes without saying that Level 5 is the top JRPG developer (at least in my book).

  • vorsic

Dark Cloud and Rouge Galaxy were Level 5 developed games and they were released here.

    • badmoogle

      Yes,but both are Sony properties.

I really hope Ninokuni comes here.

  • Interface23

Need Ushiro & Ni No Kuni

  • hsiao

I’m probably the only one, but the game from L5 I’m most hyped for is Little Battlers, followed by Ushiro.

Little Battlers / Cardboard Senki has that late 80s / early 90s anime feel that makes it adorable.

    • Jaxx-Leviathan

I agree, Little Battlers looks like fun. Always been a fan of collect-customize-battle franchises.

  • Jaxx-Leviathan

I can’t help but feel that Ushiro, though looking awesome and giving me a slight SMT-vibe, probably would be grossly overlooked if it hit the west. I’m intrigued by it, but won’t keep my hopes up.

I’m sure Ni no Kuni will make it over. Ghibli have an audience in the west.

It’s going to be interesting to see how Inazuma Eleven is received, though, and whether it’s self-published or if someone else will pick it up. Initially, I thought of Ubisoft, but they’ve been complaining about DS piracy of late so I can’t see them doing it any more.

    • lostinblue

Ubisoft will bitch about anything, while never having backed the thing entirely.

In short, they were always half assed on the DS.

      • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

Yea, won’t disagree with that. Just saying if they weren’t doing it before, I don’t see them backing it now…even though they are a very well-known European publisher and could probably give it the marketing it requires to be big in that continent at least.

    • Soma

It seems likely. Not only does Ghibli have an audience in North America, but Disney/BVHE has the NA distribution rights to Ghibli’s works. Not exactly sure if it would tie into a game, but I can certainly see Ni no Kuni on NA shelves with a big “Disney Presents” on the game cover.

That’s an interesting train of thought. Be another huge feather in Level-5′s cap if they managed to get Disney to publish for them as well, in addition to Sony, Square and Nintendo. :)

    About time!

  • http://gplus.to/rootbeerking RootBeerKing

Woot so this means Danboru Senki and Ushiro are gonna come out here, RIGHT?!

  • MrRobbyM

Oh please god, bring Ushiro and Inazuma Eleven! The Another World would be really nice too. Oh please Level 5, you will become my new favorite if these games make it over.

  • MrRobbyM

Ushiro, Inazuma Eleven and The Enother World PLEASE! Level 5, you will be my new favorite if you bring these games over.
