Xbox Game Room Makes Room For The Obscure, Like Jail Break

Microsoft’s Game Room won’t just be Tempest and Yar’s Revenge. Both of those games, by the way, are confirmed. A 1980’s prison escape game made by Konami called Jail Break is part of the compilation too.

Haven’t heard of Jail Break before? It’s a run and gun game where you have to shoot all of the escaped prisoners. I guess it’s mix of Contra and a bullet hell-lite shooter. Check out the video and expect a downloadable Jail Break arcade cabinet in the future. This game is the primary reason why Game Room got rated E 10+ instead of E.

I dumped a lot of quarters into this game in the 80s, but I can’t say I imagine it’s aged nearly as well as other classics, like Tempest et al.

If this is the same game I think it is (and it sure looks like it), occasionally women would flash from the windows.

It was pretty fun beyond that.

I found the opening of that video hilarious.
A jailbreak happens, then suddenly random cop runs out of his car shooting like crazy at nothing.

Tempest is surely a much better game, but I can’t imagine Tempest is going to translate too well to the 360, not without a rotary controller.
