Etrian Odyssey III Lost At Sea, Will Be Found A Month Later

By Spencer . January 19, 2010 . 1:56am

etiiiAtlus is delaying the release of Etrian Odyssey III in Japan. The sea exploring dungeon crawler won’t be in stores on March 4 as planned.

The cartography game has been rescheduled about a month later. April 1, 2010 is the new release date, which pushes it into Atlus’ next fiscal year.

In addition to giving players an ocean to explore, Etrian Odyssey III introduces classes such as pirate and zodiac.

That’s fine. As long as they keep us busy at the official site I’m good.
They added a bit about the skills to the Ninja class and four portraits. The little girl of the class has this awesome fox/Kitsune mask. Similar to Kunimitsu’s from the Tekken series.

They also added a track in the music section, it sounds like the victory one from the previous games. I could really listen to these samples all day, it reminds me a bit of Koshiro’s music for Misty Blue, something you want to dace *and* fight to.

Extra waiting time pays off in better game quality. Love the characters in this series, all look really cool.

Ugh, less than 5 hours ’til work… don’t wanna! -_-

That is, IF we are looking at a delay caused due to technical / polishing reasons. Like Spencer said, it will now launch in Atlus’ next fiscal year, and that could be purely due to financial reasons.

I love this series’ art, but how does it play?

With this game series, I’m far more interested in the soundtrack than I am the actual games. It’s funny as I really dislike dungeon crawlers for their repetitive, tedious nature, yet Etrian Odyssey has absolutely fantastic music so it’s more tolerable.

Also I found it curious how SMT Strange Journey was so similar to this game series in some respects.
