By now, you’ve seen plenty of 3D Dot Game Heroes screenshots. These are different. They’re from the Atlus localized version and have samples of their jokes.

The Japanese version of 3D Dot Game Heroes has a lot of video game references ranging from Final Fantasy to From Software’s Demon’s Souls. Will Atlus keep jokes about sticky white stuff in? Maybe. Their build certainly doesn’t shy away from innuendo.

I’m LOVING the Ys reference… or was that a subtle jab?

Those who’ve played the Japanese version, I’d like to know what the L2/R2 on top of X does. Based on the equipment screen, it would appear you can equip multiple tools and then freely switch between them. Is this the case? If so, that’s some GREAT design… I can’t wait to see what other ideas they “borrowed” from Demon’s Souls.

I would like to play a modern game in the classic Ys style. The new games with button-based combat don’t do it for me.

You can rotate through spells/weapons with L2/R2 in the Japanese version. I’m pretty sure Atlus won’t take that out, it’s a useful feature!

Hehe, the Flame Temple has raging fire, who’d have thunk it? Oh wow, I’m not sure if it is a nod to Legend of Zelda or just ol’-school classics, but that weaponry… a boomerang, bomb (shaped and colored exactly like OoT ones), bow and… what’s the last thing, a slingshot? If the description talks about the boomerang then even the stun-ability of Link’s boomerang is accounted for.

    Nice reference to Demon’s Souls.

EDIT: Finally found out. For some reason I was under the assumption that this game was download only in other regions… If it comes out on disc I assume it’ll be pretty lengthy then. :)

hm, now what do I spend my PSN money on? D: $20 and and nothing to buy
