Final Fantasy XIII Limited Collector’s Edition Unveiled

Square Enix Europe officially announced the limited collector’s edition of Final Fantasy XIII and spilled the beans on what’s inside the box.

PAL gamers that pickup the collector’s edition get:

  • The World of Final Fantasy XIII – a hardcover book with character art, CG rendered artwork, and environments
  • Final Fantasy XIII Original Sound Selection – a music CD with tracks chosen by Masashi Hamauzu, the game’s composer
  • Three collectable Eidolon art prints
  • A l’Cie mark sticker
  • Final Fantasy XIII for Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3

Still no word if Square Enix USA will distribute a similar, if not the same, package in North America. Just a reminder, Dissidia: Final Fantasy, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, and Star Ocean: The Last Hope had Europe exclusive collector’s editions. PAL territories also got those games after North America so that might have been Square Enix Europe’s way of saying sorry for the wait.

Europe-only CEs seem to be the popular choice these days. Heavy Rain, too, is doing it.

At least we got something good for missing all those games :o

Still wanna know where to preorder it. Anyone find a place yet?

  • Kaoro

I hate you Square Enix USA :(.

Come on SE USA! I want my collectors edition! I want to give you MORE money! How can you not take it?! :)

  • MisterNiwa

Looking at the XB360 Exclusives deals, Square Enix really doesnt give a f*ck about money. :D

How I wish for a FFXIII PS3 bundle in the US…
A bright, white console with pink Sazh etched on it would be so glamorous in my living room.

  • Ereek

I'd say NCSX will, just give it a bit of time.

That artbook is also coming to Canada (gamestop only), so I wouldn't worry my USA friends. Still nowhere as cool as that European Collector's Edition.

  • Chow

Now just wait for the North American FF13 cover to change once again to a girl with a wet t-shirt.

That's what Im hoping too, since this was just fully announced it should be up in a week or so. I missed the Crisis Core LE and the SO4 one wasnt too great so Im keeping an eye out in advance this time :)

  • Chow

    Wait, so there's a reason I should've pre-ordered in Canada already? Great.
Still waiting out on a ____'s Edition, though. ><

  • kaishou

All that for £59.99? honestly I don't think thats worth it for all that. All you get is probably stuff you guys wont even look at like the artbook or even the art card (star ocean 4 collectors edition anyone?). As for the “hand picked soundtrack” I would probably want to get my hands on the full ost but still good to know what Masashi Hamauzu likes.

I'm pretty sure Amazon.co.uk ships worldwide, as well.

  • dr000d

60 pounds is pretty cheap. In germany we pay 60€ (~68 pounds) for a game alone, lol.

  • Celedin

Where did you see the price?

  • http://twitter.com/mrchan Kelvin Chan

Wow I would never had known that if you didn't mention it. I see a blurb on the main PS3 page about a bonus item and some comments about a book, so I guess I'll (finally) pre-order this thing this weekend.

I imagine it shouldn't be difficult to change my order to a CE if one does come out. But if the artbook is being given out for regular pre-orders then the chances of a CE are slim. I already ordered the Japanese collector's soundtrack so I don't mind though.

Seriously, Squenix NA is WEAK SAUCE. Instead of blowing cash on a bus that won't leave the Bay area, they can make WAY more money by promoting freebies like this.

  • kaishou

you and me live in different country. Just that it's cheap for you doesn't mean it's cheap for me.

  • kaishou

play, gamestation, game, amazon and gameplay website. Also phoned up game to confirm the price.

  • Key

…I'm sorry, did you say Sazh?

    …A PINK Sazh?

Ohh goodie! its its really only gonna cost that than by all means XD its bought!
I for one dooooo love art books! and yes i Have Dissidia and Crisis core Collectors Editions and they are preety! In fact i try to o nly buy CEs cause i like to collect them .
although some of them dispoint a bit T___T !

  • TokyoGuy

If not mistaken, games and PCs are limited to sale only in the country they are intended for, so you wouldn't be able to order it from Amazon.

  • TokyoGuy

I think it's a bit expensive as well, there is nothing that screams out “cool” IMHO. They should have included the Lightning action figure or something.

  • http://twitter.com/mrchan Kelvin Chan

I understand why people aren't too impressed, but honestly, I don't really see how much more can you expect. The full vanilla OST costs ~40% the price of the game in Japan. Same thing for the Lightning figurine (I think). The World Preview book (closest equivalent to an artbook) is like 10%. They tried to put in a bit of everything, but if you wanted one particular thing, it's unlikely to have any of the others (and hurt sales), and if you wanted the full experience, it'd probably double the price.

Of course, these are prices, not their actual manufacturing costs, but then again they're a business, not a charity.

Lucky Europeans. Square-Enix needs to spoil the America's too. I wonder if they will make an improved version like what they did with ff10 and ff12?
