After tons of requests by Bayonetta fans, Sega has an update that should improve the game’s PlayStation 3 performance.

This download gives players the option to install Bayonetta to a hard drive, which should (hopefully?) reduce load times. The announcement did not mention how much space an install will gobble up. We’ll have to wait until Thursday to find out.

At the moment this announcement is just for Japan, but since an update is ready we’re counting on a worldwide release.

  • Nice! I don’t really care about load times, but if it helps the game become even minutely less jerky in non-action scenes, I’m all for it. That’s why I got a huge hard drive for the system, after all. Install away!

    • huhuhuhuh you said “I got a huge hard drive” huhuhuh

    Awesome! It took them long enough. They’re getting my purchase now.

  • Finally ;_;

    Hopefully Sega can learn from this. I hope in the future Sega return to their former glory days

    Lets not jump the gun here folks. We have no idea how much this patch will fix (some games have installs and still run like a POS) and I doubt it will do anything about the hazy low res graphics the PS3 ver suffers from. If this fixes the game I will move it from my “will not buy” to “rent” list (360’s controller is just bad for action games, so I just can’t buy it for that). Still I hope this helps those who did buy this game as the condition it was shipepd in was a rip off. Also dont blame Sega for this mess, its Platinum Games and Kamiya’s fault. He billed this game as a multiplat release from the start. So its his fault he made the game for only one platform, and then dumped it on Sega with little reguard for the results. I lost a lot of respect for him after this.

    Finally! Maybe now I’ll try to get back into the game now that I’m done with No More Heroes 2.

    Still not interested. If I didn’t hate the art direction I’d try it, but yeah. I’ll stick to the DMC series(with DMC4 getting no playtime outside of Bloody Palace because the main game and level design sucks.)

  • Tokyo Guy

    Hmm…it certainly decreased the loading during the actual game, but the before/after level loading is still just as long.

    People in the US should’ve also gotten it, I’m in Mexico and I did!! :)
